    Myself for 6 years before naturalized citizenship. Initially was an H2B visa with a SSN. 2004.

    Your observation about random "abcd! logistics" pulling amazon trailers is spot on. I'm noticing the same thing in increasing numbers since I started driving.
    In the last year, I've inquired about some of the local amazon jobs listed in the area I run (north Texas to Okla). Nearly every single one leads me some random small shady looking company no one has ever heard of

    Yeah, I think it's the insurance company that requires 1 year of US driver license pre-CDL.

    I think the insurance companies for trucking companies , and possibly CDL schools, may require anyone they insure to have had a US driver's license for last 12 months to be eligible for employment or admission to CDL school. It doesn't seem to be a govt requirement for a CDL.
