I have had my permit for over a year. I ran a hot shots for almost 18 years and the company that I have been with that long bought different trucks. Long story short I had to do the ELDT. So the Department of Motor Vehicles called me this morning about my skills test and said there's something that has not been loaded up to there system yet and they would not tell me what it was. Well after staying at this place for 7 days and doing this CDL training come to find out they forgot the theory test whatever that is. So my question is since it's a online course where can I take this at and get it over with? I found the place online but they seem to call it a practice theory test which I don't need to practice. And that was $350 for a video you have to watch in a couple of questions
Theory Instruction. The ELDT rule requires a standard curriculum in five areas of instruction: Basic Operation, Safe Operating Procedures, Advanced Operating Practices, Vehicle Systems and Reporting Malfunctions, and Non-Driving Activities.
ELDT: you have to pay extra money to watch videos trucking companies will show you for free. But once you watch those videos online and click on the right places on your screen, they will send a notice to your DPS that you paid the required money. Then you can proceed on as usual. That was my experience doing the HAZMAT extension. OP -- "I found the place online but they seem to call it a practice theory test which I don't need to practice" No, you wont need to do any of it, and most of it wont help you. But you have to go through all of it anyway.
I can't even remember the year. I know it was back in the 90s though. I remember sitting in the Petro TS in Arizona reading a Trucking Newspaper and reading the announcement that the FMCSA was starting a major hire. I went back to my truck thinking about that announcement. Today over 20 years later I now see the results. Since that happened look at all the 3rd party businesses in operation drivers are FORCED to do business with to stay a qualified driver. The funny part though? I don't think the FMCSA is finished and the kicker is, of course, it's all about safety!
Im working on 67 years old. Im done with the silliness. They tell me I have to jump through 1 more hoop and I will hand them my license and let ya'll fight and cry about it
