you sound like a young child, who was just told that Santa Claus doesn't exist, yet still wants to believe in him. good luck finding positive advice on that company, because there really is nothing to give.
now you have been warned, and you have no excuse if you still go to work for them, and they burn you. We are trying to help you. Trust us, run!!!
CELADON is not a place you want to be!!!!!!!

Thank you all.
As a Canadian driver, I checked Celadon Canada. Short trips, lost time and get little pay. Problems with tractor and communication with company.
Safety was OK.
It must be a good Canadian company to work for. Searching again...
I refused to take all responsibility for breaking DOT, MTO regulations - average $500 fine. I have courage to say NO!
I have clean CVOR. Last fine, I paid: $395 in Ontario, Canada in 1999.
I need to know more about Challenger in Kitchener, ON.

This company is great for safety and $$ are ok, they have some of the best clients; I like Elog , easy, legal no headaches and emotions passing scales, or pushing my limits with gallons of caffeine, this is why we came back, they don't push you in bad weather or tired; here @ Celadon safety comes first, not the client; -
Here was a story from back in our archives from one of our original moderators on his dealings with Celadon.

Two former employees of Celadon are now at RG Transport in Elwood In. One of them runs the show and has no real life experience running the show, just graduated from collage maybe 4-5 yrs. ago, he's what you would call Book Smart, Life Stupid. He run's the company with spread sheet's only. All the old timers that I have talked to at RG are saying that he is running the company into the ground, the other employee has problem's managing loads and he is supposed to be a driver manager, I personally have never had one of those, just professional dispatchers. I worked at RG Transport for 6 month's and starved getting only around 1,500 miles a week on the average, I could make more money being semi retired by $60 to $100 a week more. I did do that and got all set up for semi retirement, here's the but, was working for a driver temp. outfit and working as a casual for a local company in Milwaukee and they hired me full time and making some good money, it's enough to suspend my Social Security until a later date. I do feel sorry for you young drivers out here working for these so called mega carriers, it's to bad that at the end of my career that I had to run into this but now I know just what kind of stupid that you young drivers are putting up with, but as the saying goes, every day is a learning experience in trucking, I had to add this, yes, RG Transport has a lot of good points but the bad and stupid over shadow them....

the entire thread about how this place sucks from numerous drivers
and takes the word of a recruiter over real life expierences.
No company can give you 3000 miles a week every week, none.
If they could they would pay you for 3000 miles a week
if you ran them or not,but they know they can't do that.
You need 3000 a week to make money!
the company needs 2000 for you to pay all they're
bills and make they're truck payment.
but don't take our word for it,that recruiter would never lie
to you.Trucker Man, Toomanybikes and Milkman719 Thank this. -
Life is hard. It's harder if you're stupid.

Everything you said here is the absolute truth, I couldn't agree more than having written it myself. Celadon is THE WORST company I've ever driven a truck for. I have worked for a few different companies, mostly with an o/o, to learn the do's and don'ts of a successful leasing experience. This companies lease program is set up for failure right off the start. Celadon does not care about their drivers NOT ONE BIT. I'm glad I figured it out quickly before I leased with them. I lease a truck through KLLM, first-timer, but I'm pretty confident because of my experience being co-driver for a few o/o's. I have to say that KLLM's leasing program is geared towards the driver making money, no bull, they have the miles for you if you want to run. If you're going to lease a truck, you're about to work harder than you ever have, it's YOUR business. KLLM doesn't have their hand in your back pocket like all these other companies. They pay for your scales and tolls, and I've never had any issues with my settlement. As a first time lease, I was still a bit nervous, but know what I'm doing, I didn't just jump into a lease. I really feel that I will be successful with this company. Celadon stole my partners escrow money and the balance of his maintenance as well.....bunch of blatant crooks they are.

I've never worked for Celadon, but I've heard some stories. I know they bought a bunch of smaller companies out to grow by acquisition. I know they bought a bunch of KW T680 tractors for their teams and just spent an extraordinary sum of money on recruiting. 500 Lonestar tractors. I've seen one, nice truck of course. I would imagine there are some hoops to jump through to be assigned one of those. Here's the dilly. A nice truck doesn't mean a better paycheck. Just because you're driving something with chicken lights and chrome does not mean you are gonna get paid more, get more miles, etc. Those 500 Lonestar tractors are a recruiting ploy, and a smart one. Some people would love to get behind the wheel. But if the job is bad, what good is the nice truck. Just goes to prove you can't polish a turd, but you can roll it in glitter.
