one thing is true nowadays.....you can show all the loyalty to the company you want, but more times than not the company won't show any loyalty for drivers who bust their behinds and get loads there ontime and accident free...

im sure there's co's out there who believe in treating their drivers excellent for those who excel at their job but those nowadays are few & far between.

The ones more likely to treat their drivers right are the smaller companies.

There is an old adage: Don't burn your bridges behind you. This is true with any company, in any line of work one does. The workforce is set up in which background checks are frequently done on both new employees and "old time veterans" alike. As I have learned from personal experience, YOUR PAST CAN COME BACK TO HAUNT YOU!! The world is a small place.

I call BS on that one. I've worked for three smaller companies in the past year or so, and each one of them screwed me five times harder than any large outfit ever did. Crap equipment, crap runs and crap or nonexistant pay.

No thanks, I'll take a larger outfit that actually pays on time and attempts to maintain their equipment to avoid DOT if for no other reason.

If you quit the "right" way, with two weeks notice, then they can't pull #### on you. I gave Roehl two weeks notice and pulled loads wherever they told me to and even did the dispatcher that was starving me out a couple of favors on my way out the door. I was mad about the 750-800/week gross pay when students were getting 950-1100/week gross, but it was still better than the 650/week gross I was getting from de Boer. I walked out of there the way I walked in: grateful for the opportunity. Working at Roehl got me my current job, where I'm grossing around 1200-1400 per week and I'm home twice as much (produce company). So Roehl is an excellent starter company that'll treat you decently. Just not a great place to try and retire from.

celadon is a pretty crapy company to work for! you get plenty of miles at the start of the job. a couple months down the road. you get cut off on the miles. and get left with enough miles to make a $300 dollar check a week. it's the same trick all the big trucking companies do. they have old used fleet trucks. and not enough people in the world to by them. so pretty much force the company driver into one of 2 options. either lease the truck or find a new job. I remember calling the newsletter line. all that steve russell would talk about. is how everyone was happy with the lease program. which i thought was funny! everyone i talked to. said it sucked the trucks were always breaking down, and they regretted every leasing the truck. I always called celadon sell-a-con when i worked there. sure am glad i am out of trucking now.

What company is it? I'm looking for a job doing that. Quality leasing offered me a job recovering trucks but they are owned by celadon and I am trying to stay away from them
