I asked a OPS clown up here why he was allowed and I wasn't. The answer he gave me was "were trained to drive" to which I promptly laughed, shook my head and didn't say another word until he gave me my ticket. Unfortunately for him he dated it April 31st ... :)

Just like the Illinois State Trooper driving with lights and sirens on at 126 mph texting and using the phone that struck and killed people.

Just spoke with the bro-law. The fine in IN with court costs comes to $450 and change. He actually had the nerve to ask if he could borrow the money for "just a few weeks". Not a chance, beentheredonethat.

The CSA points now on his record amount to the same points as being under the influence or in possession of drugs(!), which is 10 points. So if I'm adding this right, with the time weight multiplier that CSA uses, for the 1st year he'll have 30 points, second year 20, third year 10. He'll be a marked man for awhile. The trooper that got him actually had a picture of him talking on the phone he took as he drove beside him. The trooper told him it was his 39th cellphone ticket on a truck driver for this month and the 3rd that day. Lots and lots of dummies out there I suppose.

I'll post the company fine if they tell him what it was - if he still has a job there anyway.

I think the point here is... Don't use your cell phone while driving! It isn't worth losing your life! It seems there are more and more idiots out there texting, swerving and generally not paying attention to anything except where they're buddy is going to be tonight at midnight! I think those people should lose their license with the first offense! Losing your privilege to drive is better than losing your life or taking the life of someone that is genuinely just trying to get where they are going!

It is written that it is against the law to even be *reaching* for the cell phone while operating the commercial vehicle.

I see NYS Troopers on cell phones daily and texting.I also see NYS Troopers never wearing a seat belt breaking the speed barriers...

This is ok..?...I can not find the article about the ''extra'' report that found this State Trooper to be IN THE WRONG...They say she was on her cell phone and vereed into on coming traffic and met an 18 wheeler head on...NO FAULT to 18 Wheeler Truck Driver....

Actually, a new study by Carnegie Melon University Research suggests cell phone usage does NOT increase the number of MV crashes. http://www.cmu.edu/news/stories/archives/2013/august/aug8_drivingcellphonestudy.html
