3000 miles in 5-7 days. 3000 in 5 days may be a stretch in ELOG era. What would you take as a flatbed driver? I'm talking base pay

$300 a day would be heavenly. Cpm screws a driver out of that, particularly if you get a 900 mile run and it takes 2 days

That's a guaranteed $1000 per week per driver. Is that after taxes and other deductions?

It isn't about miles, it is all about the rate.

The per mile is just a small bit of what you do, how about unloading pay? detention pay? breakdown pay? There is much more to trucking than just driving, you want drivers to take care of minor things on the truck?

    Me?

    A dollar.

Not too many loads will support that kind of revenue.

Now if I was new and no experience at all and bupkis.. call it .50 cent to start.

There was a time .35 was good. But inflation permanently burned that off. When I started to get a full breakfast was around 5 dollars now it's something bordering on 20 if you do a Ihop or something silly retail. If you fix it yourself in the truck you can do it for a lot less. I tend to gravitate towards the street food vendors in certain areas. (Aka roach coaches) it's not good for me long term but boy it sure satisfy the carnivore sometimes.

Pay is one thing, I tend to flip it and look at the expenses instead. If you had me Dallas to Denver, it's going to be around 900 miles in 2 days or less up that old 287 roughly. If the 900 dollar payroll for me is still 30% or less your total revenue for that haul, then everyone is happy. If it is more than that then you are not hauling the right freight for the best profit.

Keep in mind you might be paying me top dollar. (Or bottom dollar etc) but there will be days you ask nicely for me to deliver into hell. And it will get done. Its a two ways street. It just not going to happen at .35 a mile anymore no sir. Let someone else deliver to hell. lolz. its literally not worth it.

Finally but not least, the lower the mileage pay the easier it is for me to get closer to the coast to coast freight. Say Yakima WA to Boston Chelsea Market in 6 days. That way I can at least budget both the days to get it done plus have hours left over ready to go against the new week. It's not going to happen when sitting overnights and waiting half the day to unload every day. It's not going to work.
