I don't understand waiting to edit for a few more minutes , if you would edit out some on duty time to save some hours why not just do it right then , and then you can certify it at the end knowing you only showed the time you legally had to , when I ran reefer I showed 10 minutes for pretrip 5 minutes for loading ,unloading and drop and hooks if I accidently left my clock running I edited back to off duty right then

I think this is there way of convincing themselves they are the modern version of a "maverick [eLog] truck driver".

What's going to happen is the software is going to be upgraded to certify the logs after so much time has passed regardless of driver input.
So in other words, say you had a 20 minute pretrip and figured at the end of the day you could capture back 15 minutes of that through editing to save yourself from a violation, the software would have already precertified back about 8 hours ago and the editing of that time would not be allowed.
You can take that to the bank, because sooner or later even though DOT thinks ELD are cheap-proof, they will soon discover ELD drivers are cheating more than paper loggers afterall -
I've actually never been through a DOT inspection. What do they usually bust you for? Any tips to pass a DOT inspection? Not sure what to expect
