    Both are handy.

I have j plates on the 53’ but never used them. Reduces WLL and not helpful beyond 45 degrees.

Pop up chain ties probably more useful.

I’ve made 95% of things work with regular rail securemnt.

That said, I don’t haul coils, cans or cootie bugs.

Depends on what you're securing. LTL small things that get unloaded leaving half a deck? In the middle those j rails are a godsend.

Pull ups every foot as far out toward the edge of the trailer as possible. Less things to store/lose. You can use less chains and imo the pull ups are stronger. Two inner tracks would be nice as tb said but not a deal breaker. Ice in those tracks can be a pita if you're doing open flatbed work too.

Pull ups weigh more if it matters. And you have to take your glove off to get them pulled up. HAHA

a simple solution to using pull-ups in winter weather is to put a ziptie on the first link below the cap with the tail sticking out so you can it grab with a gloved hand.

That’s a good tip to pass on to the next generation of flatbedders. My daddy didn’t show me that trick because, well, we didn’t have pull-ups back then.

It works for a little while but wears off from going down the road.

Zip ties are cheap and can be replaced when you get to warmer weather.
Mine lasted for about 6 months and then it was warm enough to replace them one day while waiting for dispatch to get the lead out.

    stwik Thanks this.
