J plates suck on an open deck! Crap gets inside them on any outside load. If I was running conistoga I would like the j plates I think?

    Never had the pull chains.

J tracks suck if you ever load "dirty" products. At least on an open trailer the wind blows the track out going down the road. QuickDraw trailers get filthy inside if they are not washed out regularly.

The J plates are great for when I'm taking LTL loads and a consignee takes half a row. Easier to get a good angle when the tracks are either side of center than chain drops near the edge.

If you don't use the chain pull ups all the time they can get twisted and rust. The plates seem nice the couple times I used them, especially for awkward shaped loads.

I've used both and in my opinion it really depends on what your hauling. Pop ups are great for coils, never really cared for j hooks on coils. But j hooks work great for equipment and machinery because they allow a myriad of choices on securement points where pop ups may not

Mr @ford06, dont look at securement devices like which is better if they are 2 completely different styles. It's like asking which is better...a quarter inch drive set of sockets or 3/4 inch. Well, that depends on what I'm doing.

Pull ups every foot for me. J-Plates aren't very good for wider loads. They are slower and chains have a habit of falling off the plates before they're tightened up. Plus what everyone else has said. I would get the tracks in the floor for resale if it was a no cost option.

I have the pull chains on both my Fontaine and my MAC. They are the strongest tie down point on both trailers,.. rated 6600 lbs. Where everything else is 5400lbs.
