Third flat this year due to a piece of broken tire chain. Two fubar'd. Would you gents (and ladies) please stop shredding your chains and ruining my tires?
2CAN, otherhalftw, dca and 1 other person Thank this. -
I've seen drivers running 55 mph with chains on wet pavement. I will cite an example. In Oregon east bound I 84 from Cabbage to Ontario. You could be required to chain and unchain 3 times through this section. Drivers seem to prefer leaving the chains on from Cabbage to Ontario,
leaving broken chains on the roadway.Big Don, otherhalftw, Hammer166 and 2 others Thank this. -
around the first of the year I was headed eb on I 84. chanis required near troutdale. kept rolling to where i could see the bottom of cabbage, ice and bare pavement starting near the 97 (Pilot) . at 25/30 mph links broke then. didnt need them for the hill. or on thru to my destination.
off they went. haven't replaced them yet, they still do the job, especially in a dock
Lepton1 Thanks this. -
You can bet that these are company drivers, not ones who have to buy their own chains. I used to run into that "on again, off again, on again, off again,) coming over the top from Denver to at least Eagle, and possibly all the way to Grand Junction. smhotherhalftw Thanks this.
