Times 2, basically. I went in after eliminating debt, with a cash truck - knowing there would be ups and downs.
I feel for those who have bills, but I wasn't the guy chomping at the bit to buy a truck when we were still $100k + in debt.
I'm just looking at a relaxing year, with reduced expectations, is all. Might actually enjoy a summer this time, because I ran more than enough last summer.
Cheap Rate's!

Might be another 2 or 3 years of current conditions with spot market ahead of us. Until there is any sort of real economic growth and expansion in the economy there won't be anything in spot except for seasonal swings and snowstorms. Any more even the snow storms don't drive up short term demand for trucks. Wishing and hoping that regulatory burdens are going to magically improve anything isn't going to change anything. That is not any economic growth. That's just a burden on what little work is left out here. It won't clear out any more trucks than low rates have now. The only thing that will improve rates is real economic growth. Not printing more money and falsely pumping up the stock market.

Oh - and not saying that there's anything wrong with having a truck payment or lease, it's just that after reading enough on here before taking the plunge, it didn't sound to me like the 'freedom of owning your own truck' .
Also the comment on people buying equipment now there's a glut of used approaching - how long does it take for those who get in now, thinking cheap fuel is a sure fire success plan, to clear out again? -
Sorry man. What you see today is what you see until after the election. It is not a good time to be working spot market load boards. Flats always get hit the hardest when the economy turns south. And brother, we are way south of the border right now.
If you can't make it on the rates you are able to get today, you really should consider finding a place to lease the truck to that has decent contract freight.larry2903 Thanks this. -
Every election year. Especially so when is a two term president so you know there will be a change in the white house. New administration beings change. The movers and shakers of industry fear change. They won't move forward on plans until weer know who will be seeing the new policy in washington.

All the small manufacturing businesses are afraid that Trump will send all Mexicans home and nobody is gonna be left to work

Small guys hell. I'd bet half of the chicken and pork plants are 80 percent illegal labor. Want to stop illegal immigration, simply enforce the laws we have on the books and hit the employers hard.RERM, blairandgretchen, NavigatorWife and 1 other person Thank this.
