I don't believe that one can be given a moving violation citation for an 'on paper' speeding situation. If I recall correctly, it is simply a log violation and a hefty fine. If you're not actually observed speeding, a moving violation will not hold up in court. I could be wrong, but I do recall reading this somewhere...

I've seen this happen first hand, the driver didn't go to jail. The previous 6 months or logs were all false, however he had just come off a 34, and the person that hit him was drunk. Several years and lots of money wasted, not that it wouldn't have been wasted if his logs were immaculate leading up to this point. But they did get the GPS tracking of the truck and match it against the logs, and cell phone records.

They have done it and will do it again. Washington, if you hit two scale houses and have been in both, they know how fast you went in between the two. Oregon is even worse. Oregon knows what time you got there, everything is marked.

Like I said mate... I only run illegal if it benefits me on a safety level. Yeah, even if I leave early I will still be stuck in the same storm I was trying to beat. But you know what? If I cheat my logs right, that is two or so hours LESS I have to deal with it. I am an opportunist... not a profiteer trying to squeeze more miles out of my logs. Most DOT fines are far cheaper than being towed... and far cheaper than losing your job if you do wreck. Have a safe winter mate!

I cheat so I can sleep when i'am tired, not when the Government says I should. I have enough time to do my loads legit, but sometimes I need a nice nap in between that throws the Government Regs out the window. I don't want to end up in the ditch like these clowns with E-Logs racing the clock because they cant stop.

I love hearing, sometimes I need a nice nap. Good thing you're driving truck and willing to break your regulations. I know a guy that needed a nap at work so he took one. Turns out that gets you fired when you have a non driving job.

    Dinomite Thanks this.

If you need a mid afternoon nap, that indicates you're not getting well rested at night time. Probably because you're trading sleep during the night for sleep during the day. What happens when your deliver appointment is an hour after your nap time, do you push it in, or on those days you just don't need one.
