Some folks I know don't check their settlements very regularly, or at all. I always do, you'll eventually catch something wrong.

There was a charge for the WV Turnpike on mine - $24.25. I have Bestpass, so it stuck out.

Call 'permits' and get them to send me the charge - it includes a picture of some headlights (at night) that appear to be a Freightliner. The plate number in the box is 2 digits off mine, and somebody has handwritten my plate number and then truck number at the top of it.

When I talked to them and told them it wasn't mine, they quickly said they'd reverse the charge, but also admitted that they have a 'throw it at the wall and see what sticks' approach to tolls that are mailed out.

Maybe the original truck had since left Landstar, so they just picked a plate that was close - I don't know. But it's obviously wrong, and kinda sketchy.

    Happy accounting folks!

That’s dodgy as ##¢k. I wonder how many times they get away with that.

Oh, more often than not I would guess. Once you do the rough math of 9,000 'BCO's' , every dollar soon multiplies. One of my favorite ones is 'LCN Load alerts' - $3.69 every week. This charge is for the privilege of using their Website and load board, and setting up load alerts that either ping through your email, or you can have it automated call your phone.

    That's $1,726,920 annually . Pretty nifty huh?!

I went round and round a few years back over $800 odd in escort charges - after a few weeks I finally had a gal on the phone pull the file - to find it was an escort company I never used, on a load I never hauled.

    "Oh - our bad".

Friend of mine left there last year after 19 years, not because of the loads/freight but was tired of the nickel & diming and trying to get it corrected.

Has a trucking company ever overpaid a driver?

A lot like Uncle Sam quick to take it slow as hell to give it back. If at all.
