There will be some use for it, like light weight local shuttles but for them heavy produce, meat hauls that set up starts way heavy unless instead of batteries it has a huge generator.

I am amazed at how these envioro-yuppies think that the electricity to charge EV's comes out of thin air. Power plants, no matter whether they're coal or natural gas produce as much CO2 as internal combustion engines, and then there are the nukes plants, which produce much more toxic waste when they have to dispose of their spent fuel rods. When will they realize, when Mother Earth is ready, humanity is just a flea on her back, and can send us back to the stone age with little effort...besides scientists have proven that the planet produces more greenhouse gas with one volcanic eruption than all the internal combustion engines combined...it ain't just people, it's nature. How about we plant more stuff, last time I checked, CO2 is what plants need to produce O2
rolls canardly, Dan.S, StrokerTSi and 5 others Thank this. -
And with 8 billion of us farting we are trying to compete with volcanoes
x1Heavy Thanks this. -
But how can you pass up 0-60 in 5 sec. or 65mph up a 5% grade at 80,000 #.
-
Tell that to the load of cows back there. Or that trashed load of produce!
The whole 0-60 thing is nothing more than a marketing gimmick to people who know nothing about trucking.Dan.S and strollinruss Thank this. -
NASA is talking about drilling about a 100 by 50 mile area at least 10 miles deep in the Yellowstone magma area so that water will slowly cool it and it will potentially flash steam generate power for the entire nation.

About the only thing Tesla hasn't promised is that it can fly backwards to the moon on half a tank of unicorn farts. I have a really hard time believing they can make such a thing practical. Or make it live up to half of what they are selling it as. I want to stop short of calling that CEO a snake oil salesman, but he's sure selling a lofty bill of goods.
rolls canardly Thanks this. -
From the fleet point of view, the costs that tesla has been publishing gives a 30% reduction in operating cost up front and an overall 40% reduction compared to a traditional truck.
Even if it fails, it isn't a step backwards but forwards. -
When I first looked at the above video before I played it - I thought it was a helicopter on a flatbed???
I do know a little about the electric vehicle, and they use a concept called "Regenerative braking."
Really a great idea; as you brake, windings kick in and generate electricity from the loss of inertia.
Every time you brake - you are refueling. And yes, Elon Musk seems like a snake oil salesman.
And, yes, he has Government subsidies, to get him up and running, that I'm not fond of either.
But all the concepts and principles his designs are based on are sound.
It's getting them to work in this "Murphy's Law" world of ours that's the problem.
