Butera has a ton of money to burn so Im doubting he gives a rats behind about keeping employees, Heck most of the stores he owns in the chicago area, the managers cant stand him because he runs them like a sweat shop.
Case in point, our main transportation supervisor (15 years) that handles everything on day shift for transport (she runs the show) put in her 2 week notice about a month ago. They never even tried to get her to stay. Now its been 2 weeks since she left and her job dutys still havent been dispersed to anybody to cover. So its basically a free for all.

2 stopper at 2:00am this morning. Both inside docks, 418 miles, 12 hours, around $290. Not bad at all, but the early start kinda stunk!

Pintlehook Thanks this.

I've run 3 shuttles this week to another DC, all of them were drop and hooks with an 8:00pm start time. 480 miles, 11-11.5 hours, around $260 in pay. Yep, I've found a home!

Sounds like a good gig. As long as you aren't running a liftgate trailer, this should be a cake job! I know some of our local beverage guys (Coke) don't make nearly what you are racking in, and they have to make sure their freight doesn't topple on them as they bring it off of the trailer. Add to it, moving your pallet jack through mud and slush. I think you are doing really well. Keep us posted!

I wound up running 4 of those shuttles last week and made well over a thousand bucks. So far this week I've had 2 runs, both 2:00am start times. On Monday I ran 418 miles, had one inside dock delivery and one outside dock delivery. I worked 11.5 hours and made around $280. Yesterday I made 2 trips, the first one had 2 stops (the first one had an inside scissor lift and the second one had an outside dock). My second trip was an inside dock. I worked 10 hours, drove 217 miles, and made $260. Needless to say, I wish I could have that run every day!
They put up the "bid" last week and it looks like I'll have 6 choices. The other drivers are saying that I'll probably end up with a layover bid, which means 3 runs a week. Apparently they pay an extra 45 bucks a trip to stay out. The company also pays for hotel rooms, but we also have a few sleeper tractors so I'm not yet sure how that works. I pick my schedule and runs on Tuesday the 8th, and the schedule starts on the 13th. I can't wait!! Right now I'm waiting for a phone call...Big Don Thanks this. -
Well, last week proved to be a busy one. I worked 5 days and made over $1300. Thus far I have not fingerprinted a single piece of freight and I'm enjoying the job. Some negatives are the screwed up hours and the gutless (but very well maintained) tractors. I get to pick my schedule today and I'm excited, to say the least!

The money you're making, Pintlehook, is pretty #### good. I don't know if I'd like the idea of bouncing all around the clock on start times, though. I realize that at some point you end up bidding on a steady run, but still. At my job I'm at we run fairly early start times, but my DM tries to keep us pretty close to the same time each day.
BTW, why did you stop updating the thread back in April?
