How do you handle any kind of claims?
If a party damages your truck or trailer and acknowledges their fault, it seems like a good thing. Then you get an estimate, and they respond it's too high. And they make you wait. What's a reasonable time to wait?
Do you make a police report? Or not? (I wouldn't want to go that way since I know the broker for these loads and there were no claims with that receiver until this year. They have new people working there I was told.)
How long are you supposed to wait? How much time do you give them after you submit the estimate?
If the price is close to 10K, are you fixing it yourself? Then give them a bill to pay. I prefer money up front. We all need reserves since we don't know what tomorrow will bring.
How responsive shippers and receivers are from your experience? Do they fight your quotes?

They said their company would pay, til 2 shop quotes were both around 20k.
then they said quote was to much, had to replace tarp, shiny rear panel and one 43’ rubrail and a ladder plus the lights.
I called my insurance and they put a claim on theirs and forced them to pay.
They got the claim.Beaver9, Siinman, Flat Earth Trucker and 1 other person Thank this. -
Pay a lawyer few hundred bucks, have him put together a nice looking letter with the invoice and a threat to sue them. You can also have him call the party that damaged your trailer.
That should get you paid, if not, you might have to sue -

had the boss on tape saying they’d fix it. -
Why does everyone have that same mentality, they don’t want to make a claim/report a non fault accident. If you wait and try to call the party at fault insurance, it’s a longer process. Just call YOUR OWN INSURANCE COMPANY, they will get there money back. And in the process, you get your equipment mixed faster. “Been there done that” sheeesh……..

if a not at fault claim is on your record and it raises your rates, is it that a company worth doing buisness with? I would say not -
I'm surprised more people aren't weighing on it.
Every time at the renewal if you want to shop for new rates, they run Loss Run reports. I don't think it looks good to have claims on it. This year I would probably need two claims already. Last year one. All would be from the damages done by people who load or unload.
