I've heard of seats that vibrate when they detect a driver sleeping based on movement and heart rate. Lane departure systems that beep if you get to close to a line. Automatic brake systems. Interior and exterior facing cameras. And a 100 page handbook on how not to do your job will all become standard unless something changes

I have used several different radar devices over the years in several different models of truck. And the one consistency is that none work right. They ALL overreact or malfunction. The one I have now, if you are in an area of minimal traffic, like out in the Dakotas, will throw up the code for "blocked sensor" if it goes too long without sensing anything in front of it. If it doesn't sense anything, it decides for itself that it's broken. Then it quits working at all till you shut off the truck for 30 seconds or so. These tech things are good in principle, but until they can get them to work right, at least almost all the time, they certainly should not be mandated.

Gotta call BS on the earlier post...Never met a driver that set cruise 8 mph under the speed limit or the governor, whichever was lower. Gotta get up a little earlier to fool the Rooster!

Have had the Wingman in two different trucks. In an International, it would slam on the brakes when a 4 wheeler cut across my nose to catch an exit. In the KW, it hasn't ever hit the brakes. Since it is tied to cruise control, I turn it off in traffic, and if there is even a light dew on the road. I don't mean cancelling cruise by tapping the brakes, I mean the switch is off.

That seemed to stop the sudden braking. Hate to have that when the road is slick. I am not sure I see the humor in a sudden brake check on a tailgater.

Jb hunt 62 mph cruise/governor. 70 mph zone. I could override it if i had wanted to. Their prostars had a glitch in the governor when i worked there. It would disable itself at 65 and let me accelerate as high as i wanted to. I did speak of the situation wrong. Apologies

    RoadRooster Thanks this.
