Yeah - though it was 7 years ago - I wouldn’t hesitate to return there. They’re a top paying company with almost zero issues for us in the 8 years employed.

They outstrip most of the LTL companies in every respect.

Obviously you’d have no seniority if you’re just getting there.

What I don’t know is whether or not OD does the FedEx multiple seniority list thing or not. If they do it’s some thing you’ll need to be aware of up front because that will affect future plans.

When we left, seniority was still in place. Guys that were there longer than you had first pick on whatever runs suited them.

Not all went for longer runs. Some just wanted the easiest.

I understand not having senority off the bat, however if there is a list of people waiting for a full time position linehauling and im stuck on combo, I could be stuck there for awhile and when I do finally get over to full time linehauling ill lose all my senority because im going from combo to linehaul.

If you’re halfway between two cities and have an out of state license, I’m assuming you mean halfway between Buffalo and Erie? If so, you should also check out FedEx Freight. It’s right on the PA/NY state line.

the one in north east I assume you mean? yup, smack dab in between erie and buff. Id love a position in fedex freight but the issue is ive been driving straight trucks (class B plow trucks for the state) and they want a year of recent class experience.. ive been waiting for an apprenticeship to open for 6 months to no avail. I want to work there, but I have limited options. also ive never seen a road position open up for the north east facility, only the one in niagara falls, and its pushing the limits of how far id have to commute.

I worked for YRC Freight (refrigerated division) for 3 yrs. My seniority was kinda in the middle. I refused to bid on runs because bid runs are too boring. The other drivers didn't like it that I refused to bid. The reason they didn't like it was because, even though I was far from the most senior driver, I made more money per year than the rest of the drivers. I got all the runs from drivers taking vacations, time off, extra runs that came in that weren't on the bid list. The other drivers were really bent out of shape because I was the top money maker in that division. Screw bid runs; don't look a gift horse in the mouth.
I'd never work for a company that said, "Bidding on runs is required."

That’s because you’re cut from a different cloth, and it’s hard to convey that sometimes.

I agree with you but ltl seems the way to go for me as far as local goes. It might be boring but I wont know if I like it or not until I try. If I dont like it, i’ll move on. but this job (road construction) isnt for me, at least at these wages.
