The company that employed this driver is thanking their lucky stars that the driver was caught on camera dozing off. Now they can dodge a nuclear lawsuit and transfer that liability over to the driver. Other companies are seeing this video and seriously considering putting driver facing cams in to save on lawsuits as well.catdog45 Thanks this.

Or maybe they're thinking "#### if we hadn't had that stupid driver facing camera that tire blowout story would have worked"catdog45, kylefitzy and scottied67 Thank this.

Lawyers can and will still hold the company responsible. So much for not having to testifying against yourself. Driver facing cameras only help the lawyers.catdog45, 2rescuekids, Bonita Nut and 1 other person Thank this.

I think the driver facing cameras are going to go thru the same sort of process that police body cameras did. When the first wave of body cameras were pushed on the cops the union went nuts and a number of cops resisted but now most cops actually like having them as they have proven to save their ##### multiple times. Many truck drivers already see the benefit of forward facing cameras and I think given some time we will start to hear about driver facing cameras that actually saved the driver. I also think that as A.I. gets adapted to more tech that we will start to see cameras that actually monitor for medical issues. Imagine being a driver and having a stroke or heart attack and instead of going off the side of the road and crashing that the A.I takes over and brings the vehicle to a safe stop. Might sound crazy now but give it some time and it will become common. We cannot put the genie back in the bottle and we all need to get used to the idea that when in public we are most likely going to be on some sort of camera. -
No doubt AI will replace the driver completely.catdog45 Thanks this.

Who do you think has the deepest pockets? The lawyers are going after the company. The driver is certainly responsible but while he was an employee, on the clock, the company is responsible for his actions and the lawyers are going after the company.catdog45 Thanks this.

Add CRST to the list... specifically their heavy haul department that used to be Gordon/Gardner/whatever before the acquisition. Had a buddy leave them over the addition of a driver facing camera to his truck
catdog45, mathematrucker, Jarhed1964 and 2 others Thank this. -
Unsure if mentioned. Because don't feel like going through whole thread. Bison USA/Hartt/Pottles. Is getting cameras. Currently experienced drivers can cover up the inward camera. If join with less than 6 months experience. You can't cover it up unless not driving. After 12 months clean. They might allow you to cover it while driving. Temp truck I'm in has one. Used to be a Hartt truck
catdog45 Thanks this. -
Looks like GP Transco's cameras... except GP just forces you to take a pay cut if you want that #### coveredcatdog45 and RussianBearTruckeR Thank this.
