There was a study a couple years ago by a national safety council.
Of all the police officers killed or hurt in a crash over several years, 60% were not wearing seatbelts.
Slightly higher than the general public.
And every time a cop passes me, he's speeding and playing on the computer.
You know, do as I say, not as I do.

If a company puts a road facing cam in with audio, I will quit or disable it.
Road facing and deaf is as far as I'll go.
Actually, road facing is a good idea but we drivers should put them in ourselves so there is no need for the company to.
That way we control it and they're only 40 bucks at Wal Mart.

X-Country, foggy and free spirited1 Thank this.

Same here. A bit fancier (because I'm silly and have too much money apparently) but that's exactly how I feel. I do want a camera, but I'm a fan of a camera I control.

Started my hiring process with Lexmar here in SoCal. Have forward and driver facing cameras on internal memory drive only. No Quallcom or Peoplenet in their trucks, yet. They have gps in all trucks and trailers.
Was not a deal breaker for me. If I owned all of the equipment I would want to know where it is too. Have spoken with 10 or so drivers and none of them have ever had an issue with the cams. I spoke to the Operations Manager and he made a point of telling me they cannot monitor them live and only download the data from the cam when the vehicle is involved in a crash. He said he has far more things to fill his day than watching drivers pick their nose.

Not sure. That's why I put the disclaimer in that post. Anyone thinking about any of those companies should call them and verify...
