The "tests" being administered by these trucking companies is NOT a legitimate sleep study. I have spoken with my doctor regarding the details of these "tests" and he explained to me, given the parameters that these pos companies are using for their "tests", that us truckers are simply being jerked around for money. It's a money scam, plain and simple.

To stave off the I have OSA and use CPAP machine and get better rest reply! I know that OSA is a problem for people that legitimately have OSA. I know many such drivers. The issue is crooks from CPAP makers to people that operate sleep labs are OVER diagnosing OSA for financial gain! This is a MAJOR problem.
The below is a readout from my smartphone of data generated from my health watch. The white areas are NOT caused by OSA, but by my bladder. I am a diabetic. I have been told I have OSA and should be on CPAP. I call BS on this because I am getting restful sleep. Yes I slept too long last night and it's caused me to be a bit restless today!

I came up on this LINK a while ago. While you are reading this remember something VERY important from this LINK about how crooked drug reps are! The CPAP makers do the same dang thing! A few years ago Congress slapped the hands of the FMCSA in regard to OSA "guidelines" and all the Medical Examiners et al were up to that point gearing up with sleep labs and the CPAP makers saw their pots of gold. Then the FMCSA was forced to back down, the MEs kept on pushing this crap using generally make believe standards based on flawed safety data. This is a serious problem! -
I’ve never had to do a sleep study I’ve worked for the big name carriers like CRST, Swift, and JB Hunt. It’s all on the what the doctor says if you fail the neck measurement or BMI test then they’ll want a study plain and simple no way around it

There are no companies out there that require a sleep study. FMCSA has directed that it is a question not to even be asked at your next DOT physical.
