Company gets bought out

I haven't had that situation, but if I did I would list whoever was paying me at the time.

As an example, I opened a bank account at Delaware Trust Bank in the 80's. In the mid 90's they became a part of Core States Bank, which in turn was bought out by First Union, who then merged with and took the name of Wachovia who was subsequently bought by Wells Fargo.

30 years later I still have the same account, same number even, but it would be disingenuous to say I banked with Wells Fargo back in the 80's.

I think the same logic would apply to work. If I left Conway when it was Conway, I never worked for XPO.

 

If you out a company that is no longer in business. or sold their operation that's not a big deal,the recruiter will ask you about it and change it.

 

I just put CFI and leave it. Normally they will just use the contact number you provided to verify employement. FYI the folks in Joplin are REALLY slow about saying yes this bastered....i mean former employee worked here at these dates.

 

I guess I might say something along the lines of, "I worked for Conway, now known as Cfi." Then list the last known phone number and let them figure it out from there.

 

List the company names you worked for, let the prospective employer figure out who is still in business and whether contact can be made.

Keep it simple. If you start trying to list every possible name change or corporate owner your app could look too complicated to deal with and wind up in the round file.

 

The only reason you have to do a resume or a job application listing your past employers is that the company you are trying to get hired by is required by law to make 3 attempts to confirm your employment history. The company does not care unless you failed drug test or did something really stupid. CRST is now dealing with a lawsuit that in my opinion will bankrupt that company. If a company is out of business it is impossible for a company to check so they are relieved from having to check on your references there. When filling out an application give the company the most helpful information you can. Include phone numbers, fax numbers and email addresses if you have them. This speeds up the process. Do not be embarrassed they are not trying to look under rocks to see if you were fired for spilling your seed in the back of your tractor. They are looking to check off a requirement that the DOT has leveled against the new company.

 

I would list the Company that YOU worked for, With a note that it was bought out and is now "X" Company.

 

I wouldn't even make a note, just put down who you worked for and leave it alone, some of you guys make it complicated when it has to be simple.
