Fortunately, my terminal has 2 dispatchers and our terminal manager, so we're all more like family than most.
Everybody knows everybody, the whole staff is pretty tight across the board, and we're good like that.
Yes, it's more the exception than the rule, and you won't find that atmosphere in most trucking companies.
I can walk into the terminal managers office anytime, and we'll have a talk about anything under the sun.
    He's a great guy.
Both dispatchers are pretty awesome, all things considered.

    Nope.
I haul gas for eagle transport.
Solid company, excellent pay, typical corporate crap now and then.

I don't care if a load is late or if the schedule is unrealistic. I'll run as many late loads as dispatch cares to give me. If a customer's employee gets upset about it, I'll advise him to speak to whoever is responsible for the account. If I get any hint that I am going to get blamed for whatever and I don't get a satisfactory answer from my boss, I pre-emptively escalate the matter, disclaim responsibility for timing which I do not believe can safely be accomplished (after removing all non-essential hindrances), reject comparisons to what others drivers do in the aggregate, and state that if at the corporate level the company is not satisfied with my performance, that the cost of said dissatisfaction is that they're going to hire/train/insure a new driver.

My delivery today was at noon in Gilroy California. My next pick up was also at noon today in Tracy California, about 90 miles apart.... Now you go figure....
