Hey yall...
I've toyed with going over to IC a couple of times now. This time it may be a bit more real. The dedicated account that I've been on since 2011 is in threat of going away. I'm going to lose alot of income if I went to system or another dedicated. I'm not about going backwards...
I've done lots of reading on here and you guys provide excellent information. I always refer this forum to drivers who need information...
I do have a question about the process. I went to Schneider jobs dot com and put in a COMPANY to IC app....I know there will be a recuiter who will contact me in the future on this. Should I go ahead and put in an app to SFI dot com?? Or should I wait?
Thanks
Ike

Go ahead and put an application in the SFI as well so they have your info. Good luck. You might want to look into contacting Glenn Remington in Green Bay as he's the recruiter there. He seems to drag his feet a bit, probably because he's busy
-
Last time did they say something about your experience? Even though you have 10 years, being dedicated didn't count?
-
require 6 months otr or 12 from different company. true otr, if your home weekly it doesn't count. I tried a while back and he didn't count intermodal
-
I feel that is insane.
-
I would do both..It may depend on the rep you get with SFI on whether or not you're dedicated gig will count or not. They require you to go otr for 6 months before you make the switch. Crazy I know, but that's a possibility. Good luck either way.
-
it IS crazy , dedicated really requires being on point with delivery times.
-
While I don't work for Sni, this maybe only for outside drivers but their requirements on their IC site ask for only 6 months Class A experience. Not mentioning OTR like a lot of carriers do.
-
But it's still dedicated.. you're not running around different places all over the country away from home weeks at a time and making that lifestyle work.
Schneider probably simply wants someone whom has experience in that particular job/life style.skyviper73 Thanks this. -
The point is he was OTR for many years before he switched over to dedicated. It's not like he was never OTR ever before, he knows "what the lifestyle" is like LOL. It's actually pretty ridiculous if they turn down someone in this instance. If he can't put the hard sale on them it would be silly really. Still though, running system for a little while wouldn't hurt I suppose.
