    Holy cow!

I'd be setting up a contingency plan and exit strategy to counter that offer.
Only the strong gonna survive the downturn that's taking place.
And nothing like a advance notice eh..

I think you are right. This has been a decent job, and I don't really wish to quit right now, but it looks like the pay decrease is a final curtain call. :(

    Ending with an epic..

And my notice of no longer working there, but that's just me. ;)

Are there other things offsetting this? I mean the olden days, the companies would have all sorts of things that drivers could do to make money, fuel bonuses, stop pay, etc etc etc.. Did you gain something somewhere while losing on the pennies per mile con game?

Well, if that is the only reason, and its not doable for you, its time to get the resume updated and seek other places. When a trucking company starts to cut pay.. they are probably not long for this world.. OH.. and I would get all the unnecessary extra stuff out of the truck and an account at a rental car place.. cause the next step is trying to get you and all your crap home from Podunk somewhere

Like the others are saying,it might be time to implement your exit strategy. Sounds like the company may have a classic case of over expansion!
    We’ve seen this playbook before!!

I wouldn't be in any hurry to quit. Ride for awhile and see what happens. There might be enough hot heads that leave over this that your position will be better.
Just remember that right now there are a lot of good people out of work. The job market on the left coast isn't good and wherever you go you'll be starting in on the bottom of the pile.
Dropping your pay with no notice was a crappy move. I can understand pay cuts but it's the absolute last thing you do and you get the drivers together and tell them about it ahead of time.
Let us know how this turns out.

In Buckeye, AZ right now waiting to pick up a load to Sparkies, NV. Probably a load to Washington after that. My pick 'em truck is at the terminal in Sumner, so getting home won't be an issue.
