wasn’t trying to burn bridges earlier… But from your pay stub you make more in one week than I do in two weeks for the same number of hours. So I wouldn’t be complaining much.
I haven’t seen a pay raise in 2 years and the only reason I haven’t left yet is because I really like the 4 on 3 off schedule.
So things could be worse.
And I’m sorry. I didn’t know you lived in Oregon when I made the 1% family tax comment. I’m all for half of Oregon departing for greater Idaho.
Company wants me to take a pay decrease

Not the first time. Pay went up in the 90’s and down in early 2000’s. It’s a sign of rates being so bad. Also shows confidence in being able to find Drivers. They probably have a lot more applications and expecting more as others shut down operations.

You must know something that the rest of us don't.
Well done.JoeyJunk, Oxbow, Flat Earth Trucker and 2 others Thank this. -
If they are on a 3 year cycle I doubt they buy extended warranty, so keeping trucks an extra year or two would be a pretty big gamble for a fleet.JoeyJunk, Oxbow, Flat Earth Trucker and 3 others Thank this.

And they say we need to be randomly drug tested!

The tractors are most likely leased, which is what so many companies are doing right now to reduce maintenance and roadside costs. If that's the case, they have no choice when the contract maxes out.Flat Earth Trucker Thanks this.

Think about it. How many are not making this much per mile even at the reduce rates? You know they did the math. Those who leave can and will be replaced. Those who begrudgingly remain may have a hard time finding even that pay scale. As we all know, when you're new to a company, you are bottom pay again. Many will stay anyway.
Regardless of their reasons for this, retention or replacements will not be much of a problem for them. It's a dick move, for sure, but one for which they will see little negative consequences.Soltaker and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this.
