You guys are all assuming they want to actually hire more drivers?
Why would they want to run company trucks when they can broker it out at the current ridiculous low rates?
Company wants me to take a pay decrease

It's horrifying that you think Right to Work means the laws are tilted in labors favor. Nothing could be further from the truth.exACT driver, Tb0n3, jason6541 and 3 others Thank this.

Many companies do this. Most of the Megas and some Majors have their own brokerages, then farm out the rides their drivers do not want. If this is a company with their own contracts, of COURSE they'd want drivers.

No, not really. Just real close to retirement, I’m set financially for said retirement. I just couldn’t imagine starting over again or changing this close to retiring just to chase the almighty dollar. But this is only for me, others might think and act differently.Bumper, JoeyJunk and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this.

Frank, I should have been more clearer. Today I wouldn’t. Give me that offer a few years ago, then yes. Today? This close to retirement? Don’t need the aggravation that would come with it.

Well, after I introducing myself and explaining who I was, Cynthia and I talked at length about various subjects including the new Guardians of the galaxy movie, and the new Indiana Jones movie, we started to discuss the new pay rate. Unfortunately I don't believe this was her doing and was strickly a move by upper management
I bade her a fond farewell and promised to call again if I happened to be in the neighborhoodSirscrapntruckalot, Soltaker, Crude Truckin' and 3 others Thank this. -
Oh no, don't be horrified neighbor (I love Texas, almost as much as Kentucky!). Allow me to re-word my previous post. They're *intended* to favor workers more so than states that are "at will". But, and I assume to your point, they may not work as intended as, often is the case, there are unintended consequences that are not considered with the same vigor as the proposed law/rules so I'll take your word for it since I don't, nor have I ever lived or worked in a right to work state. I only mentioned it to the OP because I know Washington is a right to work state and perhaps there's some law/rule that could assist him with the hourly wage aspect on the paystub he posted.JoeyJunk and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this.

@HoundDog7
Didn't you clear $3500 running hot shot back in the early 2000's while saving the environment? I remember one of your customers giving you a surcharge for environmentally friendly equipment.
JoeyJunk, Oxbow, LtlAnonymous and 3 others Thank this. -
LOL! No. The intent has always been in favor of employers. It really is all about avoiding Unemployment after layoffs or firings. Such releases no longer require a reason, known as "for cause." While there may be SOME allowances for labor disputes, it takes money and possibly a court case AND proof that the layoff or firing was unfair. What unemployed person is going to do that? In this case, a pay reduction is neither. The choice of employment is still up to the employed.
This is not Utopia. It will never be Utopia. Please stop expecting politicians will do the right thing...ever. Our laws sometimes protect us, but they have really never been FOR us.Soltaker and LtlAnonymous Thank this.
