I spoke with a Prime team this morning that told me their cpm rate was .38 - split.
I'm still puzzled. I hear so many different figures these days.
Oh well - I guess I'll just leave folks to find out for themselves.
Thanks.
Considering prime, but unsure.

blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
Yeah teams are rough no matter what the pay.
Hats off to the people that can make a career doing that.
blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
Thanks - we did, but not at that rate of pay.
michaelg Thanks this. -
Thank Y'all for the information. I will put an app and see what they say I will post the info I receive from the recruiter if they call me on here. Also is it better to go with a bigger fleet or a small fleet? I have an offer from an owner operator, but no training just get in and go.
knuckledragger Thanks this. -
Depends. Some are really good, some aren't just like anything. Do they offer benefits?
Might also want to check out some local ltl's too. Prime is a great place if you don't mind OTR. ABF, ODFL, Saia are 3 really good ones that pay well and offer good benefits for local gigs but probably require experience. Never hurts to cover all your bases.
Above all don't get discouraged if plan A doesn't pan out. There's plenty of options out there in trucking.

Blairandgretchen, not sure what is going on with your friend and why they are making below poverty level at Prime, but a new driver just out of training starts off at ¢43/mile in a lightweight truck. That's ¢38/mile plus the extra ¢5/mile you get for being in the lightweight truck. On top of that you can easily average an additional ¢3/mile in fuel bonus each week. As a new company driver last year I grossed with Prime $60,645.
There are two ways your friend isn't making it, one they are always late or have safety issues, or two they are a lease driver and don't understand how to run a business.
That is basically correct if they go with the lightweight truck.
That is the rate since they are in a condo truck. They also get fuel bonus, up to ¢6/mile, and a ¢10/mile split on all truck miles over 3,000 each week. The idea being that as a team they should be able to run 7,000-8,000 miles each week.
Now if a company driver decides to go to one of the dedicated accounts at Prime, the can make more as well. Then there is the increase in pay per mile for every year you with Prime plus the extra pay they give you for the holiday season. Prime like to throw money at the drivers that are on time, safe, and do a good job.
To the op, Prime is a good company and I'm happy to be here. You'll have to go out with a trainer for a few weeks before they will let you lose as a solo. During that period you'll get $700/week. Once you upgrade to solo status that's when you'll get the ¢43/mile.michaelg and FullMetalJacket Thank this. -
He drives with a LO, gets paid .32cpm split. LO goes home for 10 days at a time.
3rd failed LO he has been with.
I ask him the same thing. Says they want to 'upgrade' him - lease a truck. He doesn't want to. -
How long has he been with Prime? Upgrade in Prime terms doesn't mean lease. That means you are upgraded to a solo or "A" seat status. He's getting screwed over by operating like that. He can make much more as a solo COMPANY driver and get full benefits. Why does he keep signing on with the LO?
Wow, just sounds wrong in so many ways. I'm not saying you're wrong, just the situation he's in sounds so wrong. And of course the LO's have failed if they are 10 days off at a time. Why????? And the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.
If you or him need help, adivse, names of who to talk to, you can PM me.Highway101 and FullMetalJacket Thank this.
