Hi folks,
Recently I've been speaking with a recruiter at Jim Palmer. He tells me that if I go to work for them that I have to sign a 1 year contract. I explained that they'd not be paying for my CDL schooling, he said that it was for "training" and and that they "teach me how to become a truck driver, not just drive a truck." I was a little flabbergasted. I mean...don't all the companies train a rookie driver for a period of time? The only reasoning I can see a contract would be needed is to pay off CDL school or because they trained me to earn my CDL.
Does anybody know anything about this? Seems really fishy to me.

JP told me the same thing and I passed and went elsewhere. The cost of the contract is the same as if you don't have a CDL at all, no discount, walk away, don't sign, there are other companies out there that will hire you without a contract.

@Flat Earth Trucker I've seen those videos. Not that one specifically, however. Very informative.
@UsualSuspect Exactly what I was thinking.
