Yeah - I'm good as a company driver paying for tires, fuel, oil, maintenance, office support . . .

Wait - sounds like an O/O.

If you're going to team as Husband and Wife, and they're going to sit you long enough that idling is an issue, they need to install an APU or find better freight to keep you busy.

Got my pre-hire letter from USX we won't be training together but their pay seems to be better for recent grads

NavyWill, make sure you get on a dedicated account. That's where the real $$$$$$ is. Talk with your recruiter about the different accounts the company has. Find out which one fits your team.

Check out the US Xpress section on this website. Lots of useful information.

    1. Dedicated gets the CONSISTENT miles (some even have mileage guarantees)
    2. Make $1,000 - $1,5000 a week
    3. Mostly drop and hook
    4. Easier docks
    5. You go to the same places all across the country
    6. You build a relationship with shippers/receivers since you see them on a regular basis (great when you need a favor)
    7. Dedicated dispatch more knowledgeable and professional because it's a valuable client
    8. The job is less stressful.

If you do OTR instead of dedicated..... think about what all that entails. Going wherever your company NEEDS you, inconsistent miles, unpredictable schedule, etc.

I'm all for working hard but dedicated is the smart way to go.

My wife and I are currently looking at which company is best to team with as well. So the money you stated, is that net & also per person I'm assuming?? Also how long did you have to wait before getting on a dedicated account??

Do they have dedicated routes for solo drivers while I am waiting for the wife to get her CDL and if so do you know of a place where I can find the dedicated routes from Kokomo or Indianapolis area ?
I think you or someone said maybe US Xpress was not very good for solo drivers.
