JB Hunt route is dedicated and pays $1272 a week, home everyday, no touch route, Sunday-Thursday

Cowan route is dedicated but different routes, pays $22/hr, 10 - 12 hours a day = $1100-$1300 a week, home everyday, no touch route, Monday-Friday

    Both no touch, both local.

Which company is better / equipment and which one would you suggest?

I really don’t know anything about Cowan, but with all the horror stories I hear about JB Hunt I would stay far away from them.

You will be closer to the bottom figure of $1100. Go with the overall best deal.

That's the issue, jb hunt is .52cpm but you also get paid for drop / hooks and backhauls, cowan is just straight hourly pay. Both big companies...

If it were me I'd go Cowan. They're equipment is a lot nicer than JB Hunt. Straight hourly with them wouldn't be bad cause I think their trucks only run 62 or 65

I'd take JBH. I like that schedule better.

JB Hunt is VER-RY BIG in the intermodal world.

If you choose JBH, you set yourself up to transfer to their intermodal group, later.

As a newer driver, this would be VERY GOOD experience for you.

    Just some food for thought....

The hourly pay would be very tempting for me, way less stressful. In my experience with cpm pay, it seems like everything that can possibly go wrong in a day to keep you from getting miles, does. Loads not ready, traffic backups, breakdowns, long lines, etc.

I’ve been paid by the hour most of my driving career and I will never go back to cpm pay.

I would avoid either one if they had you going into ports for containers.

That aside, I would go for the JBH. Can't recall the last time I saw a ratty JBH truck (I think those are in the past) and I see them hauling Walmart and Target etc which means DC to store hauls would be much preferable to container chaos.
