Yikes! Where to begin? You come to the forum asking for advice then attack those who are trying to help you? Really? I'm curious - what do you think their true motives are? Are they afraid to compete with a noob CR England washout? Climate change activists trying to keep one truck off the road? Do they want you to be unemployed and homeless so they can sell you drugs?

You won't have to look too hard to find horror stories of other drivers (many with YEARS more experience driving a truck than you have) who have attempted to do what you are proposing only to learn a lot of hard, expensive lessons before filing bankruptcy.

    Apparently not.

I was think about this again and if you think that was disrespect and I hurt your feeling maybe trucking ain't for you
Cause you be dealing with grown ### adults that don't give a f about you or your well being and with trucking there gonna be time where you gotta eat #### and smile or lose out on a customer or a good paying load so my advice for you is to grow some thicker skin and learn how to deal with ####ty people

I will try to give you some general advice. I don't run my own business nor do i know how but gonna give ya my common sense advice. In saying that i also ask, please don't shoot the messenger lol. 1st go to work as a company driver for whoever will hire you. We've all had to put up with all kinds of BS from companies in this industry. Abandoning a truck and i don't care what the reason was is gonna look bad on a resume. THAT'S TRUCKING! Stay with said company and put up with the BS for a long enough time to have a clean resume. That will make you hireable by other companies. While you're putting up with the BS of said company , do your research on running a business to be profitable and research owner operator companies. Before ya know it you will have enough time in that it will be easy to find a good company and you will hopefully have a solid business plan put together to be successful with. Oh and while you were doing all that the big money you inherited could have been maybe invested and possibly earning some extra money in interest. No SARCASM INTENDED!

Maybe make yourself keep that 150k in savings without touching it for at least 1 yr. Your grandpa didn’t have that much money to give you by letting it burn a hole in his pocket. Nor by making rash decisions.

I personally don’t think it would be a good idea to lay out $130k on truck no matter how new and only have $10-20k left over. You insurance will be really expensive more than likely depending on where you live.

Before you buy a truck, sit down and sort out a few things.

Simulate you are buying that Pete, get the VIN, call your insurance agent and get a real quote. Don’t take just the quote and think it is legit. Tell them you will go more than 500 miles from your home, tell them if you will haul hazmat etc.

Once you get that quote start deciding what you are going to do for a trailer? Do you lease one or Purchase one? Will you try Power Only? This is a big expense on top of the insurance. The truck is only part of the equation.

Realize you may not earn a check depending on who you haul for or if you use factoring for weeks. You need fuel reserves and operating expenses.

What other expenses do you have? Home, car, wife, girlfriend etc.

Put all on paper before you dump $130k into a truck. I see plenty of new trucks in the shop and depending on the miles that truck may need some stuff done to it. No matter how pretty outside it is the inside that matters.

‘consider a nice chunk of operating cost to cover an inframe or major repairs and consider buying a cheaper truck to start.

Maybe grow a thicker skin. Most people don’t care about your feelings any more than a broker will care you are going broke. Just read through and take the advice and realize that some will think you are doomed to fail. There are always gold nuggets in every thread on here. You need a good game plan before plunking down huge cash.

Tips? I would advise you to not do it. You don't have that much experience, and looking at your posts, not a lot of patience. You have 150k man, put that up somewhere. You'll need a lot more than that in my mind. With the ups and downs that go on in America, constantly, 150k is a nice nest egg to fall back on. Insurance is going to be very expensive(due to your inexperience),and you arent looking at the most efficient work truck, at least in my opinion. You are looking at the prettiest truck.

I’d like to see his face when he gets a insurance quote,if they would even give one. That $10k might cover the down payment.
