Read a story about these trucks. When I was a teenager I worked at my friends family garage in the summer. They had one of these,it had a tow set up on the fifth wheel, used for towing busses that we converted into motor homes.
Really light on the steer axle when hooked up to a bus.It had a 671 and would run.

That thing is so short, a guy could probably out-wheelie ol' X1 across Pennsylvania.

Don't hit the brakes too hard or you'll be face first in the pavement LOL

    Not with a 238hp 6-71 Detroit.
Geared right they are runners but gear them low and they can move mountains, gear them to high and they cant use high gear.
I drove one pulling mobile homes in the mid 80s with a 10 speed and it was geared for 65mph @2100 and she would turn 2450 all day when empty and pulling a 16X76 shack I was lucky to get to 55mph unless I had a heavy tail wind.

the 6-71 tuned right and driving a single drive and geared right and running empty will scoot!
I have personally seen (and been passed by) one that could run 85mph with a empty flatbed.

O’l Weedhopper that drove for a local company here, had a 4070B with a 6-71. He could outpull the same trucks with 290 Cummins.

Keep in mind they were only hauling mattresses / box springs but, pulling I-79 from Chareleston to Pittsburg will work a mouse motor too….
