1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

There is such a thing as people being billed for money that they don't even owe. I recently received a bill on something that I've never even heard of not to mention never bought. I'am trying to get to the bottom of this matter but keep being told I will pay for it.I told them to K..M..A.. I pay what I owe no-more and no-less.

I got a bill from Radio Shack a couple years ago for $3000. It said it was for something I bought in 1995. Sorry, nope. I still have it, need to get a frame for it and hang it on my wall so I can get a laugh whenever I glance at it.

Then take my situation; Told I had cancer April 08, go through the treatments , get back on road a little too soon and have an accident. Gt fired on Dec 4th go on unemployment then get a Job at Walmart, Hired on to a Bottom feeder out of Mt. Vernon, MO work almost 3 months and have some kind of radiation incurred relapse and have to fly back from CA as the doctor (and myself) took me off of driving status (This is in August) and after getting cleared by doctors to go back to driving the bottom feeder won't hire me back because I sicced unemployment on him(?:biggrin_2556:) No kidding and he's so freaking stupid as to unemployment rules he didn't realize that I hadn't worked for him long enough for him to be responsible! My last company is still having to pay all of those! Now I'm still fighting trying to get my unemployment back!

While undergoing cancer treatments, my wife used the credit cards to keep everything going but in the end I've filed bankruptcy and haven't paid a single bill in past 30 days the last being the house payment!

You know what MY credit score looks like now and also with my age (on another thread ) to have to explain this to someone who ONLY looks at numbers, It's their loss! I'm NOT a nubie and I WILL refuse to turn a key in anyone's POS truck for money I laughed at 20 years ago! This throw the drivers under the bus mentality of the trucking companies is going to turn and bite them on the arse big time and I hope I'm there to see it!

Your credit score can also affect car, house, and health insurance rates. Personal responsibility...................................

what if you pay cash for everything and have no credit rating?

I'm starting to see credit ratings as nothing more than an invasion of privacy and a tool that the owners of this country use to make sure they know what every one is doing at all times.

what if I were to apply for a job and to make sure that I was going to work for an honest company where the owners/managers were going to be straight with me, I demanded of THEM to see a documented history of their company, THEIR credit rating, and ALL the dispatchers/managers/safety directors and owners had to pee in a cup so that I would know that they weren't on something, AND they would have to drop their britches, turn their head and cough while some "doctor" pokes around their genitals. I wonder what THEIR reaction would be to that request?

I would tend to consider it an invasion of privacy, though there's nothing forcing me to work for a company that does it (though... may not have any luck finding a job that way). As for the existence of the credit rating system itself, it seems to be really the only way to assess risk, though I bet they could
do a heck of a lot better for individuals if it was more than just a number and some very basic listings.

I really don't do much with credit, except for that stuff my ex-wife did while I was on the road. Woo-hooo.
Fortunately, I'm not suffering too badly, given my avoidance of debt whenever possible, but I can see where it can get awkward in the future.

Checking a potential employee's credit rating isn't new. When I applied for a sales job at APA Transport in 1996 they ran a check on me and I wasn't even aware of it until I was applying for a loan a few years later... They didn't ask, they just did it. :yes2557:

Unfortunately, if I've heard right, a bunch of queries tend to reduce your credit rating.

well that's illegal. checking a credit score to determine whether or not to loan someone money is/was the purpose of the score. it should NOT have gained (inappropriate) usage in other areas. no, you don't have to work for a company that demands to have information about all areas of your life, but most people DO have to work some where. you don't have to go along with the 2 tiered pricing scam at most grocery stores (you just have to pay MORE for groceries if you don't.) but what if every store where you shopped started DEMANDING this personal information from their shoppers in order to buy groceries. then what would you do?
