I am in florida, but I plan on moving to where the freight is. I do not have any ties to FL anymore now that my family has, for the most part, passed away. I also asked about the best area to live in for freight and they told me around Marietta, GA. Not sure about that, but wherever the freight is, is where I plan on moving. Thank you for response, greatly appreciated.

It is true you will qualify after six months at Swift. It is also true you will be required to go out with a trainer if hired by Crete after your six months at Swift. This is due to your lack of experience.

If you are going to move from a state with no income tax may I suggest another that would be better than GA, TN. Crete is building a new terminal west of Knoxville and the freight in, and thru, that area should allow you to get home with ease. If I could, that's where I would move to.

    Best of luck!

Very nice. Thank you for the response. I LOVE eastern TN, and will definitely look into it. Right now, I am concentrating on being able to pass the skills test, as I have no previous experience. Taking it one step at a time, but planning for the future. I am just using Swift as a stepping stone, as Crete has always been the top of my list. I just could not afford schooling on my own, and Swift was the easiest way for me to obtain the CDL with very little cost. I am really not looking for home time as much as I am looking to be able to have a load ready to go after I do take home time. If the freight is in TN then that will definitely top my list as to where I would like to move. Right now I have the butterflies about driving, but I am sure that most people start out that way. At least I will be trained during the winter and that should teach me a lot ;). I cannot picture myself doing anything else at this point, even with an MBA. Once the economy turns around, I will purchase me a truck and hopefully lease with Crete. I plan on making a career here. Again, thank you for your response. The only reason I would like to move out of Florida is because of the lack of freight in this area. But hey, sacrafice now, and reap the rewards later right?

I don't think much of it when it's dry either. Nothing but a perpetual heavy dust cloud to coat everything in the truck. I usually drop my trailer and then bobtail out to find a better place to spend the night.

Mine always resets sometime after midnight Sunday and also at the end of the month when they download for their monthly reports. But last week it reset for no know reason, so no, you are not the only one to have noticed this. Maybe they are compiling a case against us?::biggrin_25511:

Seymour it was. Then off to Lowes in N. Vernon to pickup a load going to Memphis. 425mi for two days. Ouch!

STOP following me. Ever since I left Phoenix you've been following me around like a little puppy dog. I was just down Bentonville way doing my reset after a 3700+mi stint. That's where the whole PA debacle set it's hooks in me. Hopefully you didn't get sent into Pennsylvania from there.

Well, my "no freight" situation worked out, but I can't say that I worked out all that great. After sitting for a few hours I received a single load offer that was to pickup at midnight and deliver in Memphis(440mi) at 3:30pm the following day. Not too thrilled about the night driving thing but at least I got a load.

As I was putting in my acceptance of the load the Qcom beeped again and the message read something to the effect of, "This load should be ready hours before the scheduled time, possibly by early tomorrow afternoon" WHAT? That makes no sense. It's suppose to go out tonight? OH NO!

I back tracked to the load offer. Sure enough, it didn't pickup tonight, it was for tomorrow at midnight and delivered in Memphis on Sunday afternoon. That's two full days from that point in time.

The second message also informed me that I could drop this trailer up to 4hrs early. Well you can bet I'll be knocking on their door at that time.

When the load info came through it showed that a preloaded trailer was sitting there and ready to go but I only had a couple of hours left in my day and there was no point in picking it up now anyway. The load info stated very clearly. NO early delivery (4hrs OK, but not 24 like I wanted) and absolutly no Tcall. ####, there goes that idea.

So I picked up my trailer the following morning and arrived at the Lowes store here in Memphis by 3pm Saturday. One full day ahead of schedule. The aggravating part about this one, it's a drop and hook. There is an empty trailer sitting in the Lowes store dock (I'm currently looking at it) and I'm sitting here with a loaded trailer that is going to be dropped in the same door. BUT, I can't drop it because the "loss prevention" policy doesn't allow this. So here I sit waiting for the magical hour of 11:30am today.

30mins to go. Then I get to find out what the freight situation is like on a Sunday afternoon in these parts.

But even if I don't get a load today (I should get something), I will be closing the week out with 2700 miles or so and that's after my 3700+ of last week. If I'm fortunate enough to get a load today I will even be able to get up over the 3000mi mark. Not bad after all the sitting around this week. Fingers are crossed.

You'll do just fine, Roy. Funny you talking about an MBA, I was actually considering returning to school to get an MBA. Looking around though, it doesn't appear that MBA's are in much demand in this economy. You'll laugh when you see exactly how many MBA's and other graduate degreed people are driving trucks now. Most told me (like myself) it is a move to a much less stressful career, although the money is not the same. Gotta give and take I guess.

I'm glad it not just me...maybe their comparing when our idle time is at it's greatest so they can start utilizing our equipment better during those times....ok..wishful thinking I know...but I couldn't begin to figure out why it's so erratic anymore...unless their comparing the APU trucks to the battery pack units now that the season has changed...just to get a feel for which is saving the most....search me...I'm grabbing at straws. But I was getting a bit paranoid about it...since your getting it too... I feel a little less paranoid...now if I can just get the government to stop listening in on my private conversations w/myself, I can take this tinfoil off my head :)

It's not that I'm following you...I think that they have us confused...their giving you my loads, and I'm getting yours....and I'm gona pretend I'm on a dairy farm, and milk it for all it's worth.

After Bentonville on Saturday morning, they sent me to Springdale for a load out of Ball Metal. The load info said it wasn't ready until after 10 a.m. and I was empty in Bentonville at 430...so I went to the Peelot and fueled, swept out my trailer and killed some time. It seems I always pick the wrong shippers on these loads. The one's that I show up early for, are always running late, the one's I wait on, are ready way early. I got to the shipper at 930, and it's a drop/hook...that was ready Friday night... grrrrrrrrrr:biggrin_25510:. Any way the load is for Monday morning all the way in Turkey.... NC (East of I-95 off I-40) Combine that with the load I delivered in AR, that puts me at 1989 miles by 7 a.m. Monday. With hours to truck....HOLY COW...this is the life of ET(sorta' like the life of Riley):biggrin_25522:(I'm enjoying this for as long as I possibly can, before you catch me and take your good luck back!!)

It was good that I didn't pick up the load too early, I might have been going through the Gorge when it fell in again. (I-40 at the TN/NC line...The mountain fell in again closing I-40) They say the road might be closed for months again while they pick up the mountain. I saw a overhead picture of it...It didn't look that bad...but ... you never know.

There was an article in the Florida Times Union about the final lawsuits being completed against us(Crete) for that Florida wreck that killed all those kids a few years ago. It wasn't very flattering, made us all look like a bunch of reckless maniac's here. We -the Cretin nation- need to visit this site, and post positive comments about us, plus contact the writer about the less than flattering picture he painted...his email is at the bottom of the article... Their web site is their newspaper's name .you know what...I don't want to violate any forum policy's by posting a link, so that's as obvious as I can be without putting the actual sight. I enjoy this forum most of the time...I don't want to get on any of the mod's *bleep* list :biggrin_255:.... or get booted off...

I read the article. What's to defend? The driver stated that the company pushed him over hours. His own fault, absolutely! Do you really need to bow down that far to keep a job with a company that doesn't really give a #### about you in the first place? Sounds just about like every other otr company out there. Except for the the part where the company excepts responcibilty. Don't worry, it's not going to happen.

Otr stinks and Crete is just another one of them. When will you people wake up? Jesus!!!!
