I doubt they comprehend it either. I have a hard time understanding what I talk about most of the time.
    Now, who's following who?:biggrin_2559:

After I delivered in Turkey, I was offered 2 loads. Both had to wait until Tuesday to p/u, one up to Baldwinsville, the other to Elk Grove Village, IL, and both for Thursday. I chose IL. It will put me at 2980 by Thurs a.m., and in a usually decent freight area...If I get something else for this week, ok...if not, close enough to 3000 for me, and plenty of time to get a head start on next week.

For the month, I am 313 miles from 10,000...Which you would probably say big hairy deal, right? But considering I was off 2.5 days for a breakdown, and took 3.5 days off at home...10k miles aint a bad total to have. Especially for the way this year's miles have been. I, for one, have no complaints for the week....again...geez - this is getting habit forming.

    Well said, SS.

I have not followed the story, SS. Keep hearing left and right that he violated his logs. I first read the story about the accident AFTER my husband was hired by Crete. A driver from another company had mentioned it to us and was wondering the details. So naturally one night I googled it and to my surprise, found the accident report.

When we drove for Crete, they NEVER ever pushed my husband to violate his logs. EVER! Crete has the best dispatch system of all companies he drove for including the current company. Miss the dispatcher there too! Does anyone know if he is still working there? JC (John) was his name. We would go back to Crete if they had APU's on all of their trucks. But nothing is promised at this point by the FM and recruiting.

Well, the number of accidents could be anything. How do we know it wasn't the 4 wheelers fault? I bet a lot of them is caused by 4 wheelers with how many will cut us off everyday!! How many close calls have we had? Too many to count.

Well, I'm done with the subject. Need to go take care of my girls. Have a great evening! Drive Safe!

Sorry to hear about your cat RedBeard, I know how much that sucks. We lost our cat Lucy right around the same time.:biggrin_2553: It's amazing how a pet can add to your quality of life.

Just to add a little detail, C.R. England (I know, I know) charges $1400 for their refresher course at $55 per week, charged to your paycheck from day one.:biggrin_2556:

Depends on the camera, but sometimes the redeye feature is automatically active and it needs to be turned off when not shooting (taking pictures of) people. The double flash can give you some weird results when taking pictures of the interior of a truck. Try auto flash. Just a thought.

Finally got through the entire thread :biggrin_2558:. Good stuff, thanks everyone for cementing my decision to tough out the next year or so and try to get over to Crete. It's been a good read and I'll be following along in the meantime.

    Thx

I looked back at a lot of your posts. I did not see too many glowing remarks for Crete from you. Rather, a lot of frustration. If you are happy there, great.

    Hi,

My husband is looking at Crete. He has 5 years experience, and is loooking for a company that treats their drivers with respect. We understand this cannot happen everyday, but at least more often than it did with his previous company.

Can anyone offer some advise on Crete, such as how they treat drivers, if they give you just in time freight, do they have APU'S, pet policy, home time.

Thanks in advance and be safe out there,

At times I am happy here, and at times I'm not...but one thing is for sure, I am an OTR driver. My previous post about local drivers was a bit of overkill (sorta like going squirrel hunting with a bazooka). I meant nothing towards local drivers per-sey, and did not mean to slight them in the least, but it was done to show my passion for this type of work, and how when someone puts it down, it whizz's me off. Anyway, it got the point across. I am as passionate about my type of trucking as you are about yours... for me, and most drivers that choose OTR driving, it is more than a job, it's more than a career, it's a lifestyle choice. And yes, I live trucking...much like doctors live medicine, or pro-ball players live their sport, my life revolves around this...by choice. I wouldn't be happy doing anything else, and couldn't get this dedicated in any other occupation.(regardless of who I worked for)well....except maybe professional fishing...but there's little chance in that, so I'll keep trucking until it happens.

As for my points about the article, it wasn't so much a Pro-Crete msg, but a Pro-Crete-driver message. Drivers in general are looked down upon by the motoring public as it is, we don't need any more bad PR from articles that only print the harmful parts of stat's or plain old mistakes(or a I call them 'typical media lies')

I think why so many drivers think that this drivers logs were screwed up when they read the article is they mentioned the words '34 hours'...when we, the professional drivers of the world, hear 34 hours, only one thing comes to mind... The only thing ever mentioned in regards to 34 hours in any of the articles printed, was the statement he gave to the police on scene that, other than a nap, he had been awake for 34 hours...not on duty, awake... After finish his previous days work, he went home, and for whatever reason...fixing his car, b.s.ing with friends, watching tv...what ever.. he didn't sleep, then tried to do another days work the next day.
