Sorry for the delay, I had a very busy week and a number of days where my Sprint card was getting very poor connectivity (along with a lack of motivation at times). Week 18 is in and I'm working on 19.

Ugh! I know what youre saying about dispatch being clueless. Middle of last month, I was on a tight schedule getting to Cary, NC which was a set appt. I was about 10 mins away from the shipper when I got this message. "Can you shag a damaged trailer to ***** for repair?" I reply "I will be late to the customer, I dont have the time"
Their reply? "If you dont have the time, there is a clock on the QC. The trlr can pick up any time"
OMG you could have knocked me over with a feather! I seriously thought about letting them know what I thought of that comment,(Im in a hurry & need them to work with me, and they want to crack jokes?) but decided to let it go.
Id like to meet this person and just stare at them in amazement for a few minutes. UNREAL!
Yeah, Newark was fun for my first time. I thnk I missed a left turn to get on the interstate(tollway) and ended up taking the VERY scenic route. Man what a dumpy city. Did you pick up rolls of paper going to New Prague, MN? -
At the risk of invoking a vicious retort I shall respond.
First, I wasn't screwing anyone out of a trailer, it was my trailer that I brought into the yard. There were also a large number of MTs on the lot. Not that I would have done any different if there weren't to be honest though. If I know I'm going to be down for an extended time I do release my trailer. But I was looking at hours, not the next day. Second, I have been in that yard (Marietta) and refused loads because I gave up my trailer and I have had my lock pulled off my MT while my truck was in the shop for a simple A service (this happened when I was under dispatch to PU a load a few hours from that time and was forced to lose that load, who got screwed there). Are you telling me that if you are at a truck stop with an MT and someone bobtails in you are going to offer up your trailer to him so they can get a load while you wait. What you are suggesting is the same thing.
As far as helping out other drivers, I will go out of my way at any time to help not only a Crete driver, but any driver. I would even bend over backward to help you out, regardless of your opinion of my practices and I would look forward to meeting you. I love a good debate.
Changing freight. Of course it's changing. Have you been paying attention to what is happening in the trucking industry. Freight rates are at a ridiculous level and bottom feeder companies are underbidding Crete in an effort to stay afloat (and paying their drivers pitiful wages). As is the usual cycle, when enough companies go under the cheap freight will again come to an end. It's the nature of this cut throat business. You should be thankful that Crete is "buying junk freight" as you put it and continues to pay us above the industry average. I'm willing to bet they barely breaking even if that on this freight just to keep us moving.
They hired you didn't they
You can't have it both ways, you get mad at a driver (I agree with you on this by the way) that turns you in for not following procedures, but then you want to rail on me (and not mind your business) for my practices.
I'm not trying to stir the pot, but I realize that people often read their own anger into posts. It's the nature of message boards. Like you, I'm just voicing an opinion. -
As you have found out on your own, Wilmer has a bad reputation. Avoid it at all costs. I have more stories than I care to go into with that shop.
The best ones I have come across are Council Bluffs, Indy (just had a B service done there in under 1hr) and Kansas City. -

I've been waiting for that announcement myself. I know they are wishing they hadn't done the 3cpm across the board thing considering where fuel prices and freight rates are at. I do believe it has cost us a few customers of late. -
Got to love our dispatch at times. But to tell you the truth, I would probably go nutty too if I had to deal with 1000s of drivers. I try not to hold it against them.
I picked up in Elizabeth, a beer load. I got out of the load going to Newark. -

WEEK EIGHTEEN
Monday, April 28th through Sunday, March 4th
Setting the clock back on us buddy?
Great post's this week...nice to see you keep all the b.s. out of your life. You were fine to blast anyone you wanted for comments they made(bunch of hating ### people) but you chose to take the high road. Now maybe that's how you get so many miles! -

It's gona' ruin my bad reputation if I keep it up

and for the 38-41 being regional...I don't think so. Like the earlier post said, fuel prices and freight rates are putting a pinch on the pockets. You know Tonn and the rest of the upper management won't take a cut in their pay, or their profit bonus'.
