Crete uses Fuel routing. They dictate exactly which station and quantity to purchase. When you send your final "unloaded" message, you include your "fuel state" in 8th's. After you accept the next preplanned load, you should receive your "load assignment, fuel routing, and suggested routing". Exactly how they determine where and what quantity is a mystery to me. I suspect price is the number one factor. That is probably a combination of the network price vs. taxes. Each state has different tax structures. When the system fails to function properly, it is the driver's responsibility to correct with a "fuel solution" request. If the driver runs out of fuel, it is at their cost. The worst that I experienced was in the Mojave desert in Southern California. I was 108 miles short of the next planned fuel stop and on fumes. I located a shell station that accepted Comdata and communicated the issue. 50 gallons were authorized and an updated fuel message received.

Well looks like I'm spending the night here in Iowa. I had a preplan that had to be cancelled due to not having an empty to load. I'm pre-planned on another load picking up tomorrow. There's a consignee 5 miles from me sitting on 7 loaded trailers they may possibly get around to unloading tonight. I hope they can get at least one emptied out by 8am when I go back by there.

This just in from the newsroom: Shaffer Trucking no longer requires a hazmat endorsement.

I bet the Shaffer drivers that were forced to get the Hazmat endorsement after they moved everything to Lincoln aren't happy about that.
