If you drive for Crete, can you refuse one of those embarassing trailers with an arrow pointing toward the driver with some non-sensical phrase?

I started as a student in 2008, and I have made over $50k every year since 2010. I've been just short of 60 the last couple years. It's not unreasonable to make at least 55

How often are you home? I know Crete's one of the better companies as far as pay goes but what good's the pay if you don't enjoy some of it?

    I am an OTR driver.

If I'm out 21 days I get the day I arrive home and the next 3 off. Then I leave at 0800 the next morning. If I stay out 24 days I get the day I arrive home and the next 4 days off, then I leave the following morning.

Almost every OTR company does 6 days out for 1 day home. Regional companies have 12-14 days out and 36-48 hrs home then back out. I enjoy my 4 full days then go back out. We take day trips on the middle two days and the rest is hanging in the house. I enjoy the higher than average pay. My question to you is what OTR company drivers are home to enjoy as you believe we aren't?

That's why I ask what hometime policies companies have. I'm considering getting into this but I want to enjoy life as well. Out 3 weeks home a week sounds better to me. As I said I wondered what hometime was like for Crete. I guess my annual winter vacation to the Caribbean or somewhere else warm every winter would be out with them plus a couple other vacations for a few days at a time and deer season would be a no go.

I'm not afraid to work as between my non driving FT job and PT job I worked about 2500 to 2600 hours last year about 50 to 55 hours a week. I usually look at companies that offer the hometime fleets but also follow this thread as Crete has a good reputation.

I think roehl has a cool him time agreement. They have a out 7/ home 7 and I think there might also be a out 14\home 14. After being local.. I can't believe my wife and I used to stay out 5 weeks a time and only go home for 4 days. There is a life outside truck.. Just isn't for otr.

Most of us choose to have a little better life than what a 7/7, 14/14 or a local gig can provide. Most of us didn't get into trucking to go home...hometime doesn't make any money. I work for a company that allows me to work 4 or 5 weeks (my choice) and take 7-10 days off...and pays for all miles driven, not just what the company claims the miles should be.

Ok. Are you home every night to see your kids and tuck them in? I assume your old and your kids are grown? Its funny you say home time doesn't make any money.. I don't have a great local job but I see many fuel haulers work 5-6 days a week and make exactly what you do at poly but no living in a tin can smaller than a convicted murders cell.
I like being local and being home. If I decide im going to take the wife out Thursday night or I was going to go watch a movie tomorrow. Who doesn't want to have a life and move freely? Get up, walk ten feet and take a shower or use the rest room? Who doesn't like watching tv at night in a comfortable recliner?
The guy I replied to wants home time and pay and I gave some some options. So remember not everyone wants to live in a truck for weeks at a time for the same pay you can get with a nice local company.
