I talked with a Crete driver who went in for service a few months back. She was feeling lethargic and achy and it got to the point where she had to demand a 34 hour break. Dispatch fought with her tooth and nail for those next 34 hours demanding she accept loads and threatening her. She relented and accepted a load. 20 miles outside of Pauls Valley, OK she hears a sound and smoke starts pouring into the cab. She goes back to Pauls Valley and discovers that some dumb ### put a vent in her regen system backwards and carbon monoxide had been being piped into her cabin for months which was why she felt the way she did. She figures if she didn’t sleep with the windows open she’d be dead.

A year and a half ago a similar situation happened in Wilmer to her. An inexperienced mechanic installed something wrong and carbon monoxide was being pumped into her cabin. She got out of her truck to use the bathroom and was slurring her speech and unbalanced. The center manager thought she was having a stroke and took her to the hospital only to discover she had severe carbon monoxide poisoning.

Same situation. Twice. In Eighteen months.

You couldn’t pay me enough to work for Crete now.

I would own Crete if I was diagnosed with CO poisoning twice because of their equipment, but I don't think there is anything a mechanic could do other than messing with the turbo mounting bolts or something in the exhaust system.

You would think so, right? Called eight attorneys and the consensus was that if she died or got brain damage she’d have a hell of a case. She didn’t, so she has no damages and therefore no interest from them. I thought hair testing would show the slow poisoning over time but there are no labs that do hair testing for carbon monoxide.

Typically, I might have to pull into a weight station maybe once a day. Had three today including one on I26 in SC that I’d never seen open before. Thinking somebody’s sucking up that ot/ holiday pay.

I've been red lighted at almost every open "prepass" scale since Friday morning...I think they're getting warmed up for the 72 hr, or else they're jumping the gun and are trying to catch a few that would normally take that time to sit at home...

Last couple of cycles have been disappointing. When a pp came in for a 2700 mile Georgia Pacific load I jumped on it. Get the assignment and tucked into the long list of requirements is “no animals”. So load got voided and replaced with a 700 miler the ends at a Publix. I could argue that my dog is way less of an animal than a lot of folks in this industry but whatever. No gd GP bs for us today.
