Yeah, I don't LTL is the focus of this thread. OTR long haul, as a company driver, I agree with him.....you'd be hard pressed to find an OTR reefer or dry van driver making 100k. Those drivers are few and far between.

I was making .55cpm running dry van in the 90's and ran reefer from '98 through 2013 and was making close to $100,000 back then. I'm sure there's more driver's making six figures than what you realize.

back when I started it was .32/mile plus a shades company who shaded miles.
And hourly pay started back then at $6.50/hour.

    Deere hunter Thanks this.

Nope. Helena chemical, home every night. Been over twenty years the paid $7.50/hour
Flatbed that didn’t even pay to tarp for years.

Most Schneider drivers who have been there for more than 5 years are at least knocking on the door.

I was right about $100k in 2022, over in 2023, and on track for $105 in 2024 before I left.

The key is staying long enough to max out, understanding your pay structure, and running smart.

There very well could be. I've only been in the game since 2010, and beginning pay at Western was 29 cpm then. Lol How much experience did you have when you got to 55 cpm?

I can get with this logic for sure. I do think its important to utilize time properly. That does make a difference in pay, and I'll vouch for that. I know it would take about 3200 miles on average industry pay to crack 100k without incentives and accessory pay.

    mjd4277 and Lonesome Thank this.

we will have about 6% of our 145 OTR drivers make 100k this year, with another 25% being over 90k and most of our fleet is home every weekend. 100k a year OTR isn't near as hard as it used to be with .60cpm+ being so common now, it's still a hustle but way less than it used to be.
