Must be an insurance policy then as @Ridgeline posted, because I've always been told it's not legal, so now I know the truth.

If mega carriers today are pushing for team training on a permit as a change in the law, then that is wrong. -
I am guessing that since the mega's all have student drivers with commercial permits running the 48 states, driving with a permit is an everyday occurrence, just make sure there is a licensed driver in the passenger seat that has a license which is valid for the vehicle and cargo being transported.

when I was in school I drove all the time from NC to SC with just permit and instructor in passenger seat.
Lepton1 Thanks this. -

I drove interstate on a permit back in '03. My trainer was always in the jumpseat. Can't say he was always awake but he was always in the seat.

Folks that get their CDL at a mega school often take the test and get their temporary license in another state, then have to transfer the class A license to their home state.Longarm Thanks this. -
Do we WANT to know about every driver before they start driving.....of course, but the typical situation we see is a e-mail advising us of a newly hired driver.....a day to weeks after the fact, and then we ask for mvr etc and then come back and say yea or nay.
When they try to run a "new" cdl on us that way, we send our additional premium notice along with the exclusion and let the owner make his mind upLepton1 Thanks this.
