That is no excuse for the behavior of the consignee.

Well yea if the driver did do that I guess they could ask him to leave and if not it would be considered Tresspassing.

    But but wait,
It was the receiver that was out of hand

The police are the folks you call in an emergency, I carry, and I'm an adult. A spat at a shipper or consignee is not a reason to call anyone other than your dispatcher or broker. This is not rocket science. Be a man, be polite, suck it up to get the job done. Look at our President, he eats sheet everyday, and he gets the job done. I operate like he does, because I am on a mission, just as he is. Do it right, GOOD THINGS happen. And everyone is fulfilled and happy! ;-)

Ok what if the driver reacted by beating his fist on the table too and cussing out the receiver? Is that being a man about it? I bet the police would have been called then. Maybe a rescue squad too

You do not know who was out of hand. My instincts tell me the driver was the issue. He called the cops. 30 years out here, and I have never thought of calling the cops for anything like this. And trust me, I have been called everything but a white man. LOL! Old school, back in the day they did not mince words, and many were fighting words... You roll with it. They are making $10 or $20 an hour, I'm making $100 plus, I can let them vent. Better me than their wife or kids... And funny thing, if you do it right, he will be the first guy to buy you a drink at the bar if you ever show up again... Go in with an attitude, you will never be back. Sometimes that is good, other times, not so much. Never P I S S off a payday. ;-)

For purposes of this discussion, I am assuming the OP did not act in an unprofessional manner.

Man there sure is a bunch of keyboard comandos on here. Calling other people names and such. If i had a reciever treat me like that for no reason then i would have lost it. Probly had the cops called on me vs the other way around. You have to give respect in order to get it. If you dont respect me, then p... on ya. Personaly the only reason i would have called the cops would be to save my job, and save me from going to jail. The driver may have had that kind of mindset so who are yall to be calling him a sissy and making fun of him?

Well I've been trucking for 22 years. From the story I have read there is NO EXCUSE for the receiver to act like that.
For some reason though its the drivers fault seems like where your coming from

Most people do not know exactly how they would react in such a situation. I would be a little shocked at first. I think it would be appropriate to leave and figure it out later. I say, bring it back the next day. Let the a hole have a consequence for his actions.

This is the age of ELD. The driver did the right thing going back in at 0800 to re-confirm when they would unload him. No time to be wasting an hour, might as well use the time to re-confirm. Worst they can say is no, well worst they can do is cuss you out and bang their fists on the counter like an ape.

If it happened within one arm's length of the OP, that is battery right there. I carry my camera everywhere I go to prove stuff like this. Think of it as a dashcam for your forehead.
