When you shift to 5th on main box you gotta pull your right knee back for the shifter to clear.

That is a nice dash. Most of them in that vintage are missing pieces and are scratched up. Soapy water and simple green will make it shine. The right side switch and valve panel is almost always destroyed. That whole truck is a winner!
With the compression release, pyro, and manifold pressure gauge I’m guessing one of the last of the SC 350’s.?

Not 100% but I’m thinking it is a 350. 100% in tact except for the a/c compressor. He said the only thing making it non drivable is a air leak in the frame under the sleeper somewhere. No power steering but, it would make a nice local truck......

You need to get started on that ol gal. I’m gonna say that’s not the original engine, unless it’s one of the later water to air small cams. Can’t see the cam followers, well enough. Did the flat dash coincide with the vette dash production?

I'd love to find some way to make the old 13 speed shift knob to work with my 18 speed

It’s a small Cam, with compression release still hooked up..... every looks to be original that I could see....

    Wow nice old truck.
Same as the 1974 pete I had.
I also had the cable pull compression release.
Even has the chrome luberefiner on the side just like mine did.

mile marker 27 and OLDSKOOLERnWV Thank this.

The Small Cam 350 was the first with that aftercooler on it. That and the new flat crank snout is what made them a true 350. My uncle bought 3 359’s in 1974 with them. The engine That has been in my ‘67 since ‘92 is from one of them. The original 335 from it did not have an aftercooler but the oddball 380 he had in a ‘69 did. It was what we called a 12 pack. It was a box that looked like one used for a case of beer bottles. Small cams had compression releases. Big cams do not.
Uncle rebuilt all his 350’s pretty strong. I have no idea what they make in power. And I’m dreading the day I gotta tear into it because I have no idea what tricks he’d done. I know it well never be the same.
One thing he did was remove the compression release completetly and freeze plug the holes. This Has people scratching their heads and looking for the “big cam” castings all the time at shows.
The flat dash was used all the way up to ‘87. I’ve seen it in a few fleet spec, ready-mix, construction, and off road Petes of that vintage. The vette dash or “dash of class” was the majority in the 359’s tho.
