Agreed on the book. I failed the first several practice exams as I used common sense and 40 years driving to answer the questions. Then I found out the book is not for real drivers but pencil pushers. I am not a seasoned truck driver, but I am very good at driving and pulling trailers. I also have 23 years pushing a sled as a deputy so I can say high speed driving is also covered. But, for the original post, stay on pavement always. Accident investigations will place you at partial fault every time you leave the road. Not fair but the way it is.
