I called them today and spoke with recruiter.... He sent me this brochure... May have to zoom it to read it better...
-
He told me they don't pay detention at customers but said they don't have (many of) those...

They pay 3 holiday pays @ $35.00 (Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter)
He was vague and didn't tell me where their shops are when I asked a few times... If I become really interested, I will go to Mountain City (almost 5 hrs from here) to get a "feeling" of everything and everybody and want to see the shop and their equipment...
I read some reviews in this site saying they have bought cheaper trailers and trucks, KW T680 steel drives and "cheap interior and the seats are very uncomfortable and start leaning to one side and after a while you're sore after sitting in them for a few hours." WoW... Really? I hope not... but I need to see those trucks before I make my decision if will join the company...
I was kinda "surprised" that DHT is now hiring drivers with only 3 months experience...
maybe they are micromanaging those unexperienced new drivers... However, so far that has not affected their safety score with FMCSA... their driving and vehicle maintenance scores are still very good.
He said breakdown pay at 24 hour mark equal to 500 miles Pay.
Said that I would need to drive team with another driver for 10 to 15 days as a refresher because I have been out of the truck for a little over 2 yrs... and they would pay me .32 cpm on all miles driven during refresher...
Well... Crete said they will do something similar for a couple weeks and pay me $2.000 a week with me having the option to discuss with "trainer" if I want to drive as team or park the truck for 10 hr break...
At least DHT accepts my DOT physical and doesn't require any hair drug test... and their trucks have APUs... provided they keep them in good maintenance condition and get them fixed right away when there's a problem....
DHT doesn't pay as well as many in this industry... about 24% below... but must take other things in consideration..
Hey @Dockbumper ... I read comments somewhere saying DHT has cameras and other "safety system" in their trucks but person on the phone told me they don't use any "safety system" and only cameras facing outward...
How old is your truck and what is there in your truck? No lane departure sensor, no OnGuard thing? No irritating bells and whistles? Truck doesn't slow down or applies brakes when it senses something in front of it?
If not, are they planning on buying those in the near future? I would guess yes...?
Are they always prompt to have things fixed when you are on the road?
When I was in my former company and hooked to a trailer with a bad light on top or some leakage on the air lines or problem with ABS light or any other thing, I would let breakdown know and they would tell me to have it fixed right away... What does DHT do? I read that many of their trailers have problems... probably because drivers don't get them fixed and leave it for the next one...
I also read that they are using fuel solutions program that dictates your route and all specific fuel stops. Really? Does that mean they tell you how much fuel you can purchase at each fuel stop? Forgot to ask those questions to the person... And do they charge you if you run a few miles more than the route they give you? The person on the phone said that the miles they calculate is generally 5% off... So, it must be pretty close to hub miles, correct?
What about their dispatchers? Person said they have 10 or 11 besides load planners...
Do you have your own assigned dispatcher? How do you qualify him/her? Experienced? Efficient? Professional?
Sorry for this looooong posting but I am very curious because I am considering applying for this company...Last edited: Nov 16, 2021
