Someone said "I hope you like driving at night." Do they have you driving nights a lot? I imagine you're often waiting for trailers to cross the border which could be any time of night.

When I worked there 5 years ago most of there yards are in border towns like you would drop n hook in there yard i never felt rushed there. like i do in reefer! now. I drove mainly when ever i felt like it. started driving at 4am/5am

I choose when I drive. I choose when and where I stop. My choice is to start between 0000 and 0300. Park early afternoon. As mentioned above, the vast majority of border freight is pre loaded trailers at our terminals in Laredo, Nogales, El Paso and the big drop yard in Calexico. In 16 months, I have never been left waiting at any of those locations. I am usually only under 2 sometimes 3 loads in any 7 day period. No short runs. My time is spent driving and turning great miles, not waiting at shippers and receivers on a daily basis. I love driving for the company. It fits MY wants and needs perfectly. It may not be anybody else's idea of the ideal trucking job.

What's the home time policy and do they have APU's, inverters and fridges? Where do they fuel at and is it forced fueling stops or fuel whenever, wherever as long as its at approved chains? What regions/lanes do they run, is NYC forced dispatch? How old are the trucks and how often do they get new ones?

Those are great miles if you get those runs consistently and aren't rushed every single day/every single load.

Good to see all these companies upping their pay for drivers. Really good to see.

    1. Hometime is 1 1/2 days for each 7 out. Example: 8 weeks out equals 12 day off. You keep your truck. No "empty the truck if you take more than 4-5 days BS".
    2. APU's and inverters. No refrigerator.
    3. Mainly Pilot, FJ sometimes Loves. Scheduled fuel stops.
    4. Lanes are great. No northeast, no northwest, no Florida. Mainly 10, 20, 30, 40, 44 east to west. Up into the mid west. Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Ohio etc.
    5. Kenworth T 680's. Replaced at around 600K.
    6. Those runs are consistent, not rushed. Trips are planned with ample time.
    7. 3200-3400 mile weeks are not unusual.
