What matters is whether the power socket remains hot when the truck is shut off. There's nothing standard on a KW, or any newer truck. However every new vehicle I've bought since 2015 or so, the outlet up front shuts off with the key.
You could test it with a cell phone charger. Even if it turns off, some vehicles may have a second fuse slot or a jumper that can be moved to make it stay on. If so, it would be described in the operators manual.
I didn't look for that on my new Macks because I saw 3 or 4 aux power leads, both ign and bat, in the area of the diagnostic connector when I installedthe ELD. Using that, I put in a small port adapter that gives me 2 extra 12v sockets and 2 usb ports that stay on all the time. The camera and my hotspot stay on all the time, and I get alerts and can remote view the camera when away from the truck.
If your uncomfortable with all that, ask your company about it. It's a really easy thing to set up and you're probably not the first driver to ever ask for it.

New trucks with all the 'puters in them, and canbus stuff, cant you tell them to have the socket on key or not? You can have the work lights on of with the key, I had that changed on my 2011 crapcadia, they just plugged in. My volvo you could change it so the low beam either stayed on or went out with the high beam??
