I had the exact experience Frank Speak had at Davis, and I'll also add that there work schedule and there pay period is a joke. Let me explain, you spend 7 days in a truck and take your 48 off, your pay period at Davis is Monday to Sunday every week, your working 7 days a week and a paycheck for 5 days. Say you leave out on a Wednesday at noon after your 2 days off your gonna work till the next Wednesday because that's 7 days take 2 off and leave Friday. So your paycheck for those 2 weeks Monday to Sunday is a 5 day paycheck both weeks.
Occasionally you get a 6 day work week pay check, you do get paid everything you do, as long as you pay attention to your paycheck, 7/2 schedule didn't work for me. And the schedule they work there dispatchers is even more screwed up. This was my first elog job after most of 25 yrs of trucking, and my last. To be so micromanaged, and spoon fed everything is really belittling. Davis operates like a mega carrier, they've dumbed down the job so anybody can do it. And I'm convinced they have a ratio of drivers in 90 day probation and up there pay scale. I've run my own truck and know the margins. They offer .41-.45cpm depending on experience to start and top out at .55 cpm. At 100,000 mile a year avg that's $14,000 increase in pay over 14 years, they don't want to keep drivers, as long as new ones keep walking threw the door and they get em for 90 days without having to do benefits.
I'm so glad to be away from Davis, the amount of time consumed by this job for the pay is insane, and I'm really glad I got away before developing a sleep disorder or health issue from all the sitting.

You're right about how they have it dumbed down, but I wouldn't blame that on Elogs. That's just Davis Express.

Don't get me wrong, I prefer paper logs if given the choice, but elogs aren't as bad as Davis' setup.

I run elogs now, but the company I work for now leaves me alone. I get my dispatch and, unless there's some special instructions, go about my business without even talking to my DM. And, if I do need to talk to her, she's great, really enjoy being on her board.

Yup, that's them. The night driving does take some getting used to. I did alright with it most of the time.

That said, I don't miss it. In fact, out of the companies I've driven for, Davis Express is the ONLY one I can honestly say that I absolutely hate and no amount of money would get me to go back to that place. Lol

I know this is an ancient thread, but anyone reading this should get the idea about Davis. Any company that tells you that you can't move when your empty until they say so has definite red flags. I would not last a day there.
