Sounds like otr driver wishes he had a day cab and was home every night maybe us day cabbers are really only doing the speed limit and yours is governed at 60 and makes you mad when we pass you!this too shall pass

I agree, I think the majority of the day cab drivers I see are not concerned with safety or courtesy. Sure, there's alot of OTR guys who are similar. But just the other day in Paducah, KY at the Southern Pride Truck Stop, after I got a wash out, I ran in to grab some tea and use the can. Came back out and Fed Ex guys were switching trailers. Both of the drivers darn near ran me over. They just flew around the lot like they owned it and anyone on foot is walking at their own risk. I've seen that behavior a lot in places where guys are switching loads. You can hollar at them, flip them off etc... doesn't matter. Whatever they are doing is way more important than the person trying to maneuver back to their truck.

And as far as I'm concerned, the day cab drivers can keep their gig. I sure don't want it. I enjoy OTR.

lol, nothing of the sort. took OTR to get away from the house. And yes truck is governed but its higher than construction zone speeds of 55. I could care less when you pass on the open road trust me governed at 63 it happens a lot. Its the blatant disregard to construction zone speed limits and lane restrictions that really burns me. But I'm sure you super truckers have it handled.

The one thing about day cab drivers that surprises me is that they drive unusually fast. Once in a while, I see a day cab going about 5mph below the posted speed limit, but I usually see them going over or around 68-70. The day cab wiggle wagons scare me the most.

I don't dislike day cab drivers at all. Just telling what I've seen out there.

Being a sitework driver, I don't really see much difference between OTR drivers and daycab drivers when it comes to speeding through construction zones. If anything, the 62 - 65 MPH megacarriers are the worst for it, and, while we're at it, let's not forget the one which always seems to slip under the radar - K&B Transportation. I've never had a good experience when it comes to that company. I40 is down to two lanes, I'm using both lanes to get a Cat D11 dozer through there... if someone's going to almost force a pilot car off the road, roll right up on me, #### near hit both the load I'm carrying and the Jersey barricades, I can bet money that truck will have a sleeper on it, and win that bet about 99% of the time.
Granted, I can agree there are some terrible daycab drivers out there, but let's not delude ourselves here trying to play the, "Us good, them bad" game.

Well I agree that fed ex drivers are the worst drivers I've seen by far daycabs and sleeper trucks and yes I will say I've seen a lot of day cabs driving recklessly at the same time of seen otr trucks doing 60 in a 45 mph construction zone all the time whatever their truck is set at that's what they do regardless of the speed limit. I will say that the dump trucks are right up there with fed ex go as fast as they can go but a lot of it is the company pushing you to run to run that way I know some drivers that drive dump truck and what their expected to do everyday is crazy I'm fortune enough to drive for a company that pays me by the hour gave me a 389 Pete day cab 550 cummins no governor but I rarely do more then 70 only on early Saturday mornings like at 3am when its just me and the road its the least stressful trucking job I've ever had

At no point would I say OTR doesn't have their share of knuckleheads, but from what I see, it is lopsided. And i will agree with you, unfortunately a large majority of the OTR knuckleheads are my mega carrier brethren. It's embarrasing having the same name plastered on the side of my truck as a lot of those guys.

I think if a driver is going to judge another driver based them driving a daycab or sleepercab then he needs to stop and take a long hard look at himself as person. I'm a local driver but have a sleeper so I where does that leave me?

This thread cracks me up. Yeah, because a guy drives a daycab he is somehow not quite as good a driver as an otr slob. Please....As for safety, I can't count the number of times I'm rolling along on I-81 or I-78 at 65 or 66 mph and along comes SUPERTRUCKER in his pimped out Pete blowing my doors off at 70+ mph. I just laugh cause I know sooner or later that dope will be either in a ditch somewhere, pulled over by a bear or broken down. The thing that most of you SUPERTRUCKERS don't understand about daycab drivers is that they, including myself, are paid by the hour. So why would I speed and drive like a nut. I'm getting paid BY THE HOUR!!!!!! Not only is this thread ridiculous but it's also untrue. The ones I see driving like idiots, especially in the overnight hours, are the otr SUPERTRUCKERS. Especially the o/o SUPERTRUCKER. So let me tell ya, I'll take my daycab, home every night, off by early afternoon, never work a weekend, brand new truck, paid by the hour with OT job. I wait with anticipation for more of the genius comments about daycab drivers.
